summer weather makes everything hot, hot enough to trick people into feeling in love. is it the heat or are the feelings real? Anna moves to chloe's hometown for the summer after their freshmen...

"HI im gemma." another lifeguard greeted me as I was setting up at one of the stands.
"Hi Im Anna, nice to meet you how are you?" I held my hand out which she pushed down and pulled me in for a hug.
"Im great and wow you're gorgeous."
"Aw thanks I was literally going to say the same thing to you." I laughed awkwardly as I hated meeting new people.
"So I heard you're not from here?"
"Nope I'm from Indiana but I'm here for the summer with Chloe McAllister."
"Oh wow Indiana." She said with a fake smile.
"Yeah I'm guessing you're from here?"
"Yeah born and raised. So being friends with Chloe you hangout with the Sturniolo's a lot huh?"
"Yes, they've definitely become some of my closest friends since coming here. You know them?"
"That's an understatement.... Ok well the other lifeguards and I normally go out for ice cream at the end of the first day if you want to come with." I nodded my head yes and headed to put up a green flag for low tide today. I wasn't quite sure what to make of Gemma I mean she genuinely was gorgeous and seemed fairly nice but just maybe a little bit fake. I went about my day pretty much only helping little kids find their parents - no one was even close to drowning at all. About 4 hours into my day a couple guys approached me.
"hey." the one with facial hair yelled over to me. I walked over assuming the two of them needed help with something.
"Hi guys are you okay?" I questioned.
"Better now." He smirked. "My name's Elmer, what's yours?" I knew who he was when I got a good look at his face but I figured he really didn't know who I was. I knew that he was friends with the triplets but didn't bring it up.
"Oh my name is Anna, and what's yours?" I turned my head to his friend.
"My name's Nate. You look super familiar."
"Hm weird yeah I don't know why." I shrugged completely knowing why.
"So are you single like do you have snap or something?" My eyes widened at Elmer's question.
"Sorry but ill pass, sweet gesture though but gotta work." I walked away hoping somehow this would leave a good impression on Matt. Finally the end of the day was nearing and I was packing up my stand before walking over to Gemma.
"Hey Gemma!" I said waving as she walked over to me with another girl. Chloe worked at the snack shop because apparently they were short staffed so I was lifeguarding without her for now.
"Cmon Anna let's go to the Blue Cow." She wrapped her arm around mine and walked towards the boardwalk. "This is Ivy by the way." She gestured to the girl on her other arm.
"Hi Ivy." I smiled while we entered the ice cream shop. We ordered and sat down to eat it on a bench.
"Got any plans for tomorrow Anna?" Ivy asked me.
"Might hangout with the Sturniolo's but ya never know what could change."
"You sound like me my junior year of high school." Gemma giggled.
"Oh uh what do you mean?"
"I hungout with Matt like all of my junior year yeah, he was my first kiss."
"Oh wow do you guys still talk?"
"Nope he always tries to but he was way too clingy."
"Huh that's surprising. He has literally never once since I've known him brought you up." I said rolling my eyes.
"That's surprising cause he is literally still up my ass."
"Oh stop Gemma you know he found out you were secretly hooking up with Elmer the whole time and blocked you on everything stop trying to give her a hard time." Ivy finally spoke up. Gemma scoffed and walked away. "Don't sweat her, she is literally just trying to get in your head. She's still obsessed with him so if he has ever posted you she definitely knew that and was just trying to get in your head."
"Well it worked a little bit." I said laughing nervously.
"No girl you held your own." Ivy reassured me wrapping her arm around me.
"Ivy you might be the second girl I have met here that I genuinely like." We both laughed and finished our ice cream before heading home.
