move in day/irl/social media

song for chapter: may 1st, beach fossils

Chloe and I had to wake up at the literal ass crack of dawn to go all the way from Oregon back to Massachusetts for the summer. It kinda doesn't make sense that I didn't just move back in with my family but - in Indiana there is absolutely nothing to do and Chloe told me she could get me a cute summer job in mass so why not?

Over the past two semesters at the University of Oregon, Chloe and I have grown sooo absolutely close if anything were more sisters than anything so I take back my statement I am moving in with family.

To be fair I am feeling super nervous about the move and meeting all of her friends. In college you're constantly meeting new people but majority of the time it's when you're blacked out and screaming your name at them while 'No Hands' plays in the background - which is obviously not a very formal setting.

It just feels as though I'm invading in on her friends - her summer - her hometown. But she asked me to come with her so I have faith she genuinely wants me here with her.

One plane, one train, and 3 horrible Ubers later her mom was planning on picking us up from the train station. I was riddled with a million but, mostly just excitement.

"CHLOE HONEY" chloe's mom, Julie engulfed her into her arms. I giggled following behind them wondering what her greeting would be for me.

"OH NO ANNA DO NOT THINK I FORGOT ABOUT YOU" Julie threw her arm around me which caused me to wobble in my place or it could've been from the hundreds of pounds of luggage I had at my side. "we need to get you girls home like now, dad can take of all your baggage cause Jesus there is a lot."

Chloe and I laughed and head to the car back to her house.

Holy shit. okay I didn't know Chloe was fucking loaded. I am talking miss. money bags. Her house looked like something out of one of those corny magazines that middle aged women look to for interior design advice.

Chloe showed me up to her room and then showed me the bathroom that would adjoin my bedroom to hers. Don't get me wrong I loved being her roommate but having my own room was a must now. I needed my privacy back and I think Chloe did too - especially with this guy she will not shut the fuck up about idk like Chad or Kris or something.

I love Chloe but she definitely falls in love too fast and it is always with the worst guys. I have almost stopped keeping track I will always be there for a quick cry sesh over them but the details stopped mattering after the fifth guy in of first semester. Me on the other hand - I have literally never had a boyfriend like ever. I won't lie I have kissed a lot of boys but the moment I think I might like them I stop talking to them and lose all emotion. In that regard Chloe has to do the same thing as me - just ignore me talking about a guy cause she knows it won't go anywhere.

The two of us forced ourselves to separate and get settled in for the rest of the summer. Apparently tomorrow was a big day at the start of every summer everyone goes boating to watch the first sun roll in and then has a huge party on the boardwalk.

"by the way Anna do not expect this to be like U of O at all. it's small town people with small town interests no strobe lights and house music and sweaty frat basements. Im talking boats, daddy's money, and too many Sperry's too count." Chloe remarked as if it was a bad thing.

"boats and hoes Chloe, remember. We'll fit right in. now go to sleep - love u too much." I made a kissy face and strolled back through the bathroom to hit my sheets and await tomorrow.
