The day of the party had arrived a lot faster than I would've liked. I can't tell if I'm excited or nervous about it. On one hand, I'm excited to spend time with Aya and Iwaizumi, they're fun. On the other hand, there are a lot of people, and I'm kind of an introvert whose social battery drains extremely quickly.
Aya and I were getting ready in my room. She was doing her makeup in the mirror, while I was picking an outfit.
"Y/N, do you think this looks nice?" Aya turns to me, showing off her makeup.
"Yeah, it looks good" I reply.
"How about my outfit? Does it look nice, I hope I'm not overdressed... or underdressed."
"Aya, you look great. You're over-thinking everything."
"I know, I know! I'm just worried, what if I don't look good enough for... Oikawa."
I put the clothes I was holding down on my bed to look at Aya, "Are you kidding me? Who cares what Oikawa thinks! I know it can be hard to stop caring about what others think, but..." I paused for a moment, thinking of what to say. I'm not the best at putting my thoughts into words. "My point is who cares! And you're like, really pretty, Aya. You look good no matter what."
"Wow... thanks, Y/N." She smiles, "I really appreciate everything you said. You're right, I'll try to not care what he thinks. I know it shouldn't matter."
"Good." I pick up my outfit options again, "Now which outfit should I wear?"
"Hm... that one." She points to the one I'm holding in my left hand. I thank her and start to change. Once we finished getting ready, I said goodbye to my mom, and we were off in my sister's car. She offered to drive us there instead of me driving. I guess she didn't trust me enough to drive her car, and I couldn't use moms since she was going out.
"So, whose house is this anyway?" She asks, keeping her eyes on the road.
"One of the volleyball girls." I reply.
"This reminds me of all the times I went to parties when I was your age. That was so fun! I'm glad you're going out to have fun, Y/N."
"Jeez, why are you acting so old? We only have a few years difference."
"I know, but it feels so long ago!" She smiles. It seems like she already misses being a teenager. After hearing more of my sister's stories of when she went to high school parties, we pulled up to the house. It was a pretty big house, this girl's family must be rich.
"Be safe, text me if you need to be picked up." My sister says. Aya and I wave goodbye and thank her for the ride. We walk to the front door, but Aya pauses for a second.
"What is it?" I ask.
She takes a deep breath, "I'm just calming down... I feel nervous for some reason." I pat her back to try and make her feel a little better. Once she chilled out, I opened the door and was immediately greeted by the sound of loud music and LED lights. We took off our shoes and headed to the main living room where most people were hanging out.
"Hey, Y/N!" I look around the room full of people only to see Iwaizumi on the couch, waving at me.
"I'm gonna say hi to some friends, Y/N, keep your phone on so we can text each other. Just in case, y'know?" Aya says to me, going off to find her volleyball friends. Wow, she didn't seem nervous at all anymore.
I walk to the couch, where Iwaizumi was talking with the other third years on his team, "Hi, Iwaizumi."
"Here, you can sit if you want." He moves over to leave some space at the edge of the couch.
"Do you need anything? I can get you a drink if you like." He asks.
"No thank you, I'm good. Where's Oikawa? I thought he'd be with you guys." I question, trying to talk loud enough for him to hear me over the music.
"I don't know probably talking to some girls. Nothing new."
I laugh. "Definitely not new." We talked a bit more until Aya suddenly comes up to us.
She was holding a drink and had a huge smile on her face, "Y/N, this is such a good song! Let's dance!"
"W-what? No! I can't dance, and you already know that!" I yelled over the music. I really can't dance... it's kind of a disaster when I do.
"Who cares, Y/N! Maybe you should learn to take your own advice!" She grabs my hand, pulling me up from the couch. I look back at Iwaizumi, hoping he can get me out of this situation, but he just laughs.
"Have fun!" he yells as I get dragged away by Aya to where everyone was dancing. She holds both of my hands and jumps around singing along with the song, while I bop my head to the beat not knowing what else to do.
"Come on, Y/N, loosen up!" Aya cheers, swinging my arms up and down.
"Aya, I'm gonna go to the bathroom."
"Alright, text me if you need me!" She says joining her other friends. I started to get really anxious for some reason, there were just so many people and it was so loud. I had to take a breather. I look around for a bit, trying to find the nearest bathroom. I should have asked Aya where it was...
I eventually did find one, I quickly walk in and shut the door, locking it. All I heard was muffled music and voices. I leaned against the wall, taking a few deep breaths. What is wrong with me? I'm supposed to have fun. I thought to myself. I check myself in the mirror, I'm fine. I look pretty decent right now. I'm feeling pretty decent too. I'm ok now. I take one last deep breath and unlock the door. As soon as I open it though I get pushed back in, with the door slamming and locked again.
"h-huh?" I look up and meet eyes with the person who pushed me in.
It was Oikawa.
