"Can you like, not?"
"What? Is Mikey Wikey cranky?" Lucas said with a babyish voice.
Mike didn't respond but he did shove Lucas, Which only made him laugh.
"See you guys tomorrow!" Dustin shouted, the three boys kept close walking together. But they had arrived at Dustin's house, leaving the two alone.
The 6 kids split up not to long ago, it wasn't dark out but Will had started to get tired and the others had things to do.
It became an uncomfortable silence, Lucas glanced at Mike.
He knew that Mike wasn't open about these things with anyone but he couldn't help but wonder.
Mike had his fair share of issues at home but he never spoke of them. He didn't try hiding them either. The Wheelers were a picture perfect American Family, they just weren't perfect in real life. When Lucas or Dustin came over, each would notice how the family acted around one other, Mrs and Mr Wheeler often got into arguments at the dinner table, Mr Wheeler never seemed to care much and that only made his wife even more upset.
Once, Nancy brought it up to Steve. Before they broke up; And Steve mentioned it to Dustin who brought it up to Lucas, "My mother was young and her dad had a cushy job." Meaning that no love was ever involved.
They all had agreed to never talk of it to Mike, Even if he didn't voice his feelings he still spoke with body language.
"Are you okay?" Finally Lucas spoke up, He knew that Mike wouldn't respond truthfully but he at least wanted him to know they cared. Mike was his best friend and he needed him to know that Lucas was always there for him, Dustin too.
"Yeah, Why?"
"No real reason, You just seem a little glum."
Mike rolled his eyes, he was glad someone asked about him; Even if they would never find out how he felt.
It got quiet, but it wasn't uncomfortable anymore.
"Will seems cool."
"Yeah.." Mike shyly smiled.
They continued on with small talk, Walking towards their houses.
They had been neighbors since forever, Which made them become friends in 1st grade. And Dustin only lived a block away.
