Li KangYi waited for the news of his promotion after his made the call.
He felt quite confident about it. Madam Jiang had promised him a handsome reward over the phone. She was the boss's mother. Should be easy peasy for her to reward him with a promotion of some sort.
As he felt that his promotion was just a matter of time, Li KangYi stopped caring about his current work. He tried of offload as much from his plate as possible; and those that he couldn't offload, he'd procrastinate them till the very last minute.
"Li KangYi, have you sent out the progress report on Chu's Garden yet?"
"What progress report?" asked Li KangYi as he leaned back in his chair, crossed his legs and looked at his colleague. His lifted his eyes slightly and created the illusion that he was above his colleague.
"The one that we talked about in our meeting on Wednesday. Remember you were supposed to send them out to the project team? They said they haven't received it yet." His female colleague frowned and was very unhappy with his attitude.
Li KangYi was at the meeting and he vaguely remembered something like that. He went online to look at houses afterward and had completely forgot about the email. Now he finally recalled it when he was reminded.
Granted, he wasn't going to say that he had forgotten about it. He didn't care for his job but he still needed to put up a front for it. "Eh?" He said with a dubious look. "That's odd. I did send it."
He opened up his mailbox as he spoke and pretended to be looking through it and mumbled, "Did it not get send out?"
After he was done with his cover story, he looked up at his female colleague and gave her an embarrassed smile. "Yeah, it looks like it didn't get send out. I'll just resend it."
His female colleague just gave him a cold look without saying anything. They were partners and worked together as a team. Li KangYi had been dropping the balls a lot lately and that had increased her workload by a lot. She had spoken to him multiple times already but he always had some sort of excuses.
Of course Li KangYi realized that his partner was unhappy. But he was confident now and didn't care about his colleagues in the office. He didn't even bother with saying something nice.
The outcome of offending his colleague was being called into his superior's office.
Qi Shan wasn't a big fan of Li KangYi. To be precise, nobody was a big fan of Li KangYi in the office. His work performance was mediocre but loved to brown nose and would follow the boss around all day long. Everybody still remember how funny it was when the boss booted him out of the office when he was annoyed.
As much as he didn't have a good impression on this man, Qi Shan never really picked on Li KangYi either. He had always been a fair boss. He wanted to talk to him this time to find out what was going on with him lately.
Li KangYi didn't care about him, though. He put up an apologetic front but Qi Shan could tell that he didn't mean it one bit. He frowned and knew not what to do with someone like that. He finally sighed and waved him away.
Li KangYi returned to his own desk quickly with a smile on him. He thought Qi Shan's reacted the way that he did because of instructions that he was received from higher up. He was daydreaming when he received the notice that he had been fired.
"I'm fired? Why??!!" Li KangYi busted into Qi Shan's office, demanding for an answer.
"It's what the boss wanted. You are welcome to talk to the boss if you like." Qi Shan didn't even bother looking up. "Someone new will be here shortly. Do transition with him."
