After visiting Big Grandpa, there were his children. After Cheng Huan and Jiang MingYuan had finished making their round, it was already close to lunch time.

Jiang MingYuan had already made plans with Fourth Cousin the day before to have lunch over at his place.

His cousin and his wife were easy to get along with and would not make one uncomfortable. Cheng Huan had a decent lunch not having to worry about all the inquisitive looks.

After lunch, all those who wanted to play mahjong showed up again.

It was then when Cheng Huan finally realized why the man lost all those money intentionally the day before.

With a not-too-happy look, he declined the invitations and said that his luck had not been great lately and would lose again if he played. It wasn't a lot of money but it was not a good sign to lose money on New Year Day.

Everybody in business was somewhat superstitious and they all bought into this story when he said that. Others only asked him a little symbolically but none of them insisted. Then they changed the subject over to business subtly and started complaining about their current situations.

When these individuals were whining, Jiang MingYuan just listened. He pretended that he didn't get the hint when they implied assistance from him and, if they carried on, he'd subtly change the subject.

All in all, in the few hours that he spent at his cousin, nobody was able to get anything from him.

Cheng Huan was thoroughly impressed. Those people sounded so authentic when they cried about their situations and even she was almost moved. The man, on the other hand, sat there the entire time without frowning even once.

She lamented later, "You are good."

Jiang MingYuan wasn't sure what to say to that sort of praises. "This happens once a year. I will get used to it sooner or later."

Well, that made sense too...

Came to think about it, while those individuals were complaining about how poor they were and how their companies were about to go belly up, there were manipulation written in their eyes the entire time. What was going through the minds of these "relatives" were blatantly obvious, so how would someone as smart as Jiang MingYuan be fooled by them?

Jiang MingYuan, "I have helped them out in a moment of weakness in the past..."

"And then what happened?" Cheng Huan had a feeling that nothing good came out of it.

"In the end, it was discovered that the materials had been swapped out with lower grade ones and almost didn't pass the inspection."

Cheng Huan was startled. Poor construction materials were no small feat. People could die from it!

She felt nervous. "What happened afterward?"

"I had the structure demolished and rebuilt from scratch." It happened such a long time ago that Jiang MingYuan wasn't too emotional when talking about it. He was even able to joke about it. "Lucky money was tight back then and buildings were built one at a time. It might have bankrupted me otherwise."

Holding Cheng Huan's hand in his, he looked at her side profile and said, "Lucky I didn't go bankrupt. I would not have met you otherwise."

Cheng Huan was not in the mood to joke around with him. She seemed a little peeved. "Where's that person who sold you the counterfeit supplies? Had him cover your lost!"

"He was long gone before I went looking." His father had just passed away not too long ago at the time and he was still living in sorrow. The power in the company was divided up among his uncles and he was determined to take it all back. Nobody, however, would believe that a young man who was barely 20 years old would be able to manage a company of this size and those in the company who supported him were few and far between. Not only would no outsiders believe in him, his mother, too, was very discouraging day in and day out and would constantly tell him that he knew nothing and should let the relatives run the company and that they were all family and would have no ill will toward him.
