Chapter 17
3 months later
Fern glanced down at her hand intertwined with Aden's before she looked back up to be met with his sparkling dark blue eyes a happy smile on his face. Fern still couldn't believe that she was his and he was hers. Fern was lost in thought as she smiled up at her boyfriend, her heart filling with warmth as his smile changed into an amused smirk.
“What are you thinking about Bud?” Aden questioned as he lightly grazed his lips with hers, making her thoughts blurry and her heart race speed up slightly. Even though they've been dating for a while now, he still knew how to make her go weak in the knees. Fern shook her head slightly, trying to get her thoughts back in order.
“Just how lucky I am.” Fern sighed happily as she leaned back into him, enjoying the view from the top of the Ferris Wheel they were on. Fern felt Aden's chest vibrate slightly as he chuckled.
“You were thinking about how fortunate you are to be with a model like me?” Aden whispered into Fern's ear, making her giggle slightly, his silliness still there from when they first met.
“Sure.” Fern replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes at the shocked noise coming from behind her.
Fern and Aden sat in a comfortable silence before Aden spoke up, “What ride do you want to go on next?” Aden questioned as they looked at Disneyland spread out before them. Both Aden's and Fern's family went on vacation together, except Fern's dad. Fern frowned slightly as she felt a lump form in her throat. She hasn't seen her dad since the beginning of January. What's worse is that they haven't been getting anything from him, no letters, nothing. It's like he's disappeared from the planet. Fern snapped out of her thoughts to Aden shaking her slightly, a concerned look on his face. Fern didn't even realize she was crying until Aden wiped away the tears and then crushing his lips onto hers, his tender touch making her forget about what she was crying about.
“It's okay babe. He'll be back. He'll be back.” Aden cooed into her ear as he brought her in for a hug, knowing exactly why Fern was so upset. “He who is brave, is free.” Aden smiled as he saw that Fern had finally calmed down. Yes, she told him what the quote was, and she decided that if anyone were to know about the quote, it should be Aden.
“Let's go on Tower of Terror next.” Fern chirped excitedly, wanting to get out of the dull mood she was just in. Aden nodded in agreement before intertwining his hand with hers, stepping out of the cage and walking as quickly as they could to their next destination. Fern and Aden went from ride to ride, enjoying every minute of their vacation together.
“Let's watch the next parade.” Aden blurted, a little drip of chocolate ice cream on his chin. Fern giggled slightly rubbing off the food before raising an eyebrow at her boyfriend.
“A parade? But I don't like parades. I thought you didn't like them either.” Fern recalled as she watched Aden shift his weight uncomfortably, putting on his best fake smile.
“Well, I think we should watch this one because people say it is really good so I wanted to see if they were right and it's new and I've never seen a Disneyland parade before, only Disney World and-” Aden rambled his cheeks turning pink as he tried to lie under Fern's intense gaze.
“Fine, if you want to see the parade so bad just say that you want to!” Fern laughed, talking to him like how she would a little kid while pinching his cheeks. Aden swatted her hand away, as he wore a happy grin, grabbing her hand and pulling her to a seat right in front of the castle. “Fern looked around as she realized that no one else was sitting where they were, it was completely empty.
“Aden... I don't think we're allowed to sit here.” Fern mumbled, frantically pulling on Aden's hand to try to get him to move. Fern groaned in annoyance as she realized he wasn't going to move, his pride overpowering his common sense.
