"Famous model Kai and Famous designer Jennie in a relationship." He read out the headlines, he flipped the pages of the news paper to read more details.
"They speak of love as if it is a crime." He sighed as he read the article, "It is very simple and clear! A model man fell in love with a designer woman. It is literally only love!" He shrugged.
He pulled his phone out to read the comments. Disgusted by the lack of common sense and minimal empathy in people, he threw his phone on the bed in frustration.
"Pathetic! How can people blame anyone who falls in love. How heartless must they be to force them to break up! I pray that they stay strong and don't break up." Oliver laid back on the bed.
He held his phone and clicked on the photos app. He lovingly caressed the screen which had a picture of the young him and a young girl.
"Jisoo." He smiled as his mind pulled him into his thoughts.
When Oliver was about five years old, he heard his parents raise their voice on each other for the first time.
He cried.
He cried so much. He still remembers how it felt back then. But his parents took him in their arms and assured him that it was nothing.
His young, naïve heart had believed them. He laughed at his ignorance.
He wondered how perfectly they hid their relationships. He wondered why they pretended to be the happiest family on the planet if they weren't happy with each other.
He recalls them numbly looking at each other and quickly changing faces as soon as they noticed him. He was a fool to ignore the evident signs.
An year later when he happily came back home after school, he was welcomed by his beloved father's body hanging to the ceiling. He deliberately recalled how his mind blanked out back then.
The poor boy collapsed on the floor, still conscious. His mother had let out a loud scream as she saw what was in front of her eyes, she quietly sobbed as she quickly called the police.
The police had arrived along with their neighbours.
Turned out that his lover had left him as she lost her love for him. His little heart had to understand too many things in 48 hours.
The neighbours threw harsh words with the same mouths which they used to praise their so-called-perfect family.
His mother had her head lowered for days, for as much as she doesn't love him he was still a wonderful acquaintance and a father to her child, and most importantly she was solely responsible for answering her son.
Oliver had to live with his mother and her, unlike his father's, successful love life who did take good care of him but Oliver didn't want to accept them.
Because how can his parents lie to him? They could have proceeded to love him along with having their own relationships, which they were already doing, but after explaining it to him.
He snickered sarcastically.
"I'm sorry." His mother said to him back then, she continued apologising to him many times as he grew and every time she apologised Oliver made clear that he's not angry on just her but his father too and that she isn't the only one to blame.
He told her that if they told him earlier, he wouldn't have grown those unrealistic expectations on them as a family.
He should've known that it was too perfect. Utopia isn't real, it can't be real.
His mother's lover tried to talk with Oliver many times, trying to make him feel better, but every time he tried, he got a small smile in return from Oliver.
Oliver wasn't angry that his mother had another lover, he was angry that all his parents thought they could do was pretend in front of him.
Then they moved to a new neighbourhood where his mother and her lover thought it would be better if he made friends, so they sent him outside to play after school. He didn't fancy spending time at home anyway.
That's where he found Jisoo, a girl who was little elder than him and she had the most beautiful voice!
She worked so hard to make friends with him even after most of them gave up. Her best friend-Park Jinyoung, gave Oliver the looks, probably because he gave Jisoo a hard time.
She slowly broke his walls, got in his idle heart and mind, she created a path for him to be open enough for people to approach him. People who used to keep away from him till then slowly began making friends with him.
Jinyoung was a hard case to crack though, because he closely observed him for the two years which Jisoo took to make friends with Oliver. As years slowly passed Jinyoung finally started getting close to Oliver.
Fate had clearly planned something else for him. He had to leave Korea before he could properly enjoy the time with Jisoo, Jinyoung and others.
He's pretty sure that Jinyoung didn't give him Jisoo's number because of that impression which wasn't given enough time to grow into a nicer one.
Seeing Jisoo again felt like a dream came true.
His first love.
She was so pretty, just like how he had last remembered her.
He smiled as he remembered her as a kid and now.
Her smile has never changed has it?
Oliver has always dreamed of meeting her and telling her that he had always liked her. So after he stood on his feet, he made arrangements to go back to Korea.
For her.
Meeting her before leaving to Korea felt like a sign to Oliver. He was sure that Jisoo would like him back.
He couldn't wait to see her!
With a smile on his face, Oliver slowly fell asleep.
Heylo! How was your day?
