"Jeno, will you go out with us tonight?" He smiles softly and shakes his head no.
"I don't want to be a third wheel. You guys have fun though." Jaemin pouts.
"Pwease, we want to be with you. We missed you, you know? You stopped hanging out with us." Jeno looks away while crossing his arms.
"You guys are together now, things are different." He says sadly. Jaemin looks away having to fight tears. He can hear the sadness in Jeno's voice and it hurts him. He quickly walks up and hugs him around the middle surprising him in the process. Jeno cautiously hugs back.
"I'm sorry, Jen. We never meant for that to happen." He says softly as He starts to back away.
"Just come out with us tonight, please?" Jeno smiles and kisses his forehead.
"Sure." Jaemin nods with a smile and backs away, he doesn't want Jeno to see the river of tears that are pushing their way through.
"Great, Renjun will be here soon then we can get ready." He walks into his room and lets the floodgates open. When Renjun walks in he sees Jaemin sitting on their bed in tears.
"What's wrong baby?" He asks softly. Jaemin looks up with a sad smile.
"It's Jen, I just feel bad about leaving him out for so long." He cries into Renjun's tummy as he holds him.
"What if he doesn't want to be with us? What if it's too late?" He whispers sadly.
"Shh, don't talk like that. We have to be positive. Now, did you ask him out?" He smiles as Jaemin nods yes.
"He said yes, but he doesn't want to be a third wheel." He says with a pout.
"Then let's keep him in the middle at all times. This date should be about him." Renjun says softly.
"In theory that sounds good but if he doesn't know it's a date then it's not a real date." Jaemin says.
Renjun kisses his lips.
"Let's get ready and, no coupley stuff tonight." Renjun says quietly. Jaemin nods and goes to wash up. They both get ready quickly and leave their room together. When they see Jeno standing there looking sexy as hell, they both have to stop to catch their breath.
"You look so good." Renjun says excitedly walking up to him. The two boyfriends can't help but melt at the shy smile and pink cheeks on Jeno's face.
"Thanks. You two both look amazing." He says softly. They are only going for a simple dinner and maybe a nice walk in the city if the weather stays nice. Jeno is surprised but goes along with it when they each take an arm and walk out to the car. Jeno insisted on driving since they invited him out. Renjun sits beside him this time and Jaemin takes the back. He's trying very hard to forget about earlier and have fun but he is still a little upset. When they get to the restaurant, it's a nice sushi place Jaemin picked, they put Jeno between them at the bar. He notices but thinks nothing of it, he figures they are just trying to be inclusive and he's ok with that.
"So are you seeing anyone?" Renjun asks in a matter of fact tone. Jeno coughs and looks anywhere but at the two curious faces looking at him.
"No." He says simply, but Jaemin isn't satisfied.
"But why? You are attractive and sweet and charming. Why don't you have someone?" Jeno clenches his jaw out of nervousness and looks down at his lap.
"I just haven't found anyone I want to date, it's not that deep but Renjun did just hear you say I'm attractive." He says with mirth trying to lighten up the atmosphere. Renjun giggles.
"Don't forget, sweet and charming and don't worry I think those things too." He says with a cute wink. Jeno of course tries not to show that he is affected by their compliments and just looks at the menu. He's glad that the subject was deflected, he certainly wouldn't want them to know that the reason he doesn't date is because he's been depressed. His heart broke when they started dating, he's always liked them both a lot. In fact he was sure it was love so it's hard to shut that off. He went on one blind date a while ago but no one will ever live up to their standards and he knows it isn't fair to go into it with that measurement in mind. They lay off the heavy subjects for the rest of the meal and just talk like they used to.
"Let's walk." Renjun suggests, and the others readily agree. Jeno is having such a nice night with them, he doesn't want it to end. He plans to just enjoy their company when he can and hopefully this arrangement won't be too painful.
They each take a side again and hold his hands. They walk slowly, enjoying the night air and just being in the presence of each other.
"This is nice." Jeno says softly making the others smile.
"It is really nice." Jaemin says, squeezing his hand.
"Look over there." Jeno says pointing to a small pop up carnival.
"Ooh. Let's go." Jaemin says. Renjun smiles widely.
"Remember when we used to come to these all the time? I miss those days." He pouts and Jeno squeezes his hand.
"Let's go, I'll win you a teddy, just like when we were younger." Jeno can't see the light he sparked in both of their eyes since it is dark but he's made both of them so happy. They walk up still hand in hand and find the shooting game, this is the one that Jeno excelled in.
He pays for six games to start and it's only on his third that he finally wins a pink teddy.
"Here you go Nana, and I'll get the yellow one for you Renjunie." Renjun smiles softly, they haven't heard him say their nicknames this way since the two started dating. He puts his arm around Jaemin and smiles as he watches him hug the teddy Jeno won for him.
Renjun watches as Jeno pulls out more money and buys more games but for some reason he can't get the target. Before he pulls out even more money Renjun stops him.
"Don't spend anymore money, it's ok. Just being here together is enough." Jeno frowns but allows them to lead him away. They ride the Ferris wheel together and get some cotton candy to share. They have a magical night together.
Jaemin and Renjun talk him into squeezing into a Photo Booth with them for one round of pictures but he tells them to take some couple photos while he goes to the bathroom. They try to take some happy couple photos but the more they are around Jeno the more they realize just how incomplete they really are.
"I love you Renjun, so much." Renjun smiles and kisses his cheek.
"Don't worry Jaemin, I know. I love you too." They smile a little brighter for a few photos and step out to see Jeno standing there with the yellow teddy he promised Renjun. His eyes sparkle as he goes up and takes it from him.
"Thank you so much Jen but you didn't have to." He says quietly while he hugs the bear.
"I said I'd get it, I wasn't going to leave without it." Renjun leans up and kisses his cheek and Jaemin follows his lead and they will probably never know just how much he loved that.
"You look tired , Jen lets go home." He smiles and nods his head yes, even though he doesn't want this to end.
"I want you two to know that hearing you talk about our home means so much and no matter what happens it will always be our home. It's where you belong." He almost whispers the last part but they still hear it. He opens his arms and they hug him softly.
"Thank you, for being here for us even when we don't deserve it." Jaemin says through tears. Jeno frowns.
"There is nothing you could do that would make me not be here. I love you guys." He says before squeezing them once more and breaking their hug. He wonders if they will ever know the true meaning behind his love confession and they wonder if he could possibly mean more than brothers or friends, they really hope so.
