Dear Diary,

Sorry. We went out to run errands for a bit. I'll tell you about that in a bit.

So.. Where was I? Oh! We went downstairs to meet our "Foster brothers and sisters". Josh and Paige hate that word, but I don't mind it. It makes me feel like I'm part of a family. With my mom in the hospital and my dad in prison, I don't feel like I have a family.

We walked downstairs after checking out our rooms, and no one was there.

"They must be in the basement", Annabelle suggested confidently.

A basement? Cool! We walked down and the basement had a full bathroom, comfy couches, a TV, game system, and even an air hockey table!

I looked over at Paige and her face dropped as her eyes skimmed the air hockey table. That was something that her & dad used to play together. Every time we went to the arcade, they'd spend all their tokens on that one thing, and my dad would always secretly let her win.

I rubbed her back discreetly in order to provide her with some comfort. I can tell Paige is taking this whole thing really hard. She's a crazy one, but becomes sensitive in unfamiliar situations.

I continued to scan the room, and.. did my eyes deceive me?

"Maddie?.." I said shocked, in just a whisper.

An awkward silence followed as Maddie and I stared into each other's eyes, and then Annabelle, confused, broke the quietness by clapping and saying, "So! Let's introduce you to your fellow foster friends."

Josh mumbled under his breath "fellow Foster friends", as to mock Annabelle's singsongy voice.

I nudged him with the side of my arm. That was rude. I appreciated Annabelle's positive attitude.

So, after some awkward hello's and handshakes, high fives and 'welcomes', I finally was introduced to all of my new siblings. The only person left was Maddie.

Andrew: an African American boy, who introduced himself as "Drew". He also informed us at he was 13, Paige's age. He was tall and skinny, and wore black square glasses, red flannel, and khakis. He shook all of our hands, and told us he has been here ever since his parents gave him up as a baby. Annabelle was actually working towards adopting him.

Grace: very sweet and outgoing, seemed very happy. 9 years old. Had brown hair with blue eyes, and seemed very happy. She wore a pair of pale pink skinny jeans with a flowy white tank top that knotted at the bottom. Then she explained that she was Annabelle's daughter, which made a ton of sense. She looked and acted exactly like her, which made me wonder where her dad was..

Anyway. Then it came time for her to "introduce" Maddie, which seemed silly, since I feel like I know Maddie better than she knows herself.

It was awkward. That was obvious. I wonder if Annabelle had really not noticed the tension between us, or if she was just pretending not to notice.

The last time I saw her was when we got kicked out of the Abby Lee Dance Company. We unfollowed each other on Instagram and haven't talked since.

And now, I'm going to be living with her.

Love, BMH
