Small author note before we begin!: After chapter five, I'll be changing the theme. I plan on changing the theme every 5 chapters. The theme being the image above. Hope you all enjoy this chapter.
"Sigh", Kaede's arm stretched around the around the table, wet cloth in hand, making sure to get every drop of coffee. The previously bent over blonde straightend her back, blowing a strand of hair out of her face. "Phew I'm tired!" Kaede looked over at the clock, 9:39 p.m. Kaede's usual shift was from 6:35 to 9:35, however one of the workers for the shift after Kaede's was sick. So, Kaede agreed to do both shifts. Kaede had just finished her shift and was now beginning the next. Thankfully their shift was much shorter than Kaede's, so the blonde would only have to work from 9:40 to 11:00.
"I am so glad I can go home and relax and not have to be in your shoes" the comment came from no one other than Miu Iruma. Miu walked out the door, and from outside, she approached the window Kaede was at, and gave Kaede the middle finger while sticking her tounge out. Kaede glared at her, before grumbling "I have the worst co-worker".
The small coffee shop was practically empty, only a few customers inside. At this time the shop wasn't busy. Some were on their computers, probably finishing homework due at 12:00, this was a school campus shop afterall. Kaede worked around the shop for a long while
At 10:28, the door suddenly opened. Kaede almost ran to the cashier but then remembered she had to waitress this shift. Kaede didn't really like being a waitress, she had to walk all around the shop and remember who's drink was who's. Still, Kaede looked over at the door, to her surprise, it was Shuichi. Surprisingly, he was able to see her. Kaede cheerfully smiled at him, the former could only bashfully smile at her. Shuichi ordered, then sat down at a seat towards the end of the shop. Kaede couldn't talk to him, not yet at least, since she had to clean the tables first. Then, she was called over to the back. "Could you deliver this drink?" Kaede accepted and looked at the name written on it, Shuichi Saihara. The blonde smiled to herself and walked over to the blue haired boy's table.
"One mocha coffee for Mr. Saihara!" She placed the drink down at the table. Mr. Saihara chuckled before thanking the girl in front of him. "Thank you Kaede" Kaede pouted, "Heeeey! It's Ms. Akamatsu!" The two laughed and Kaede sat down in front of him. "Anyways, the shop isn't busy right now so I have time to talk to you!" The two were practically inseparable ever since they saw each other on campus, they were always next to each other and talking. It was a week and a half since they meet, yet they frequently texted.
The pair kept talking to each other, until Kaede remembered something, "Oh shoot! I totally forgot! My shift is over at 11 p.m!" The blonde looked at the clock, 10:56. "I'll should probably start packing up. I'm really sorry Shuichi!"
"Oh no its perfectly fine! You don't have to apologize." Shuichi said.
Kaede nodded before speaking up, "Right! I wanted to ask you, are you free this Saturday? I'd like to go somewhere with you."
Shuichi sat there, confused and thinking of his schedule. "A-ah, I-I think I am f-free on Saturday."
"Perfect! I'll text you later with more details. Right now, I gotta go!".
They waved goodbye to each other and headed their own ways. Shuichi walked outside, basking in the wind on his face. It was calming, there was only slight noise in the back but in a way, the noise made the walk even more relaxing.
As soon as Shuichi was inside his dorm, he went to his bedroom and flopped down on the bed. It was nice and warm inside the room. His room was well organized, his bed, a small desk, a small bookshelf, and a few decorations. His room was one that could be described as cozy, much fitted for a detective. He slipped on some sweatpants and baggy t-shirt, he felt much more comfortable this way. He laid down staring at the ceiling for a while when a ping caught his attention. "H-Huh?" He looked at his phone, a notification on his lock screen.
Kaede- Hey Shuichi! Hope you're not asleep yet!
Shuichi quickly clicked on the notification and began typing
You- Hey Kaede and no I'm not asleep yet
Kaede- Great! I was wondering if you'd like to meet up at the park for a picnic. I was also wondering if 1 pm was a good time for you.
You- Of course Kaede. 1 pm sounds great. Could I bring anything?
Kaede- Of course you can something. I have to go to bed now. Goodnight Shuichi! :D
You- Goodnight Kaede :)
Shuichi turned his phone off with a smile. He laid back down and threw the blanket over him. It was lights out from there.

The next morning, Kaede arose with a yawn. "What time is it?" She rubbed her eyes and turned on her phone. 8:18 a.m "It's still really early but I should get ready either way." She stood from her bed and walked to the shower. The shower was refreshing and nice, it helped her relax.
She walked into her room, towel wrapped around her body and hair, and began searching for clothes. Kaede picked out a nice dress. The top part was navy blue and the skirt part of the dress was white with sunflowers on it. Finally, she put on some socks. She walked out her room feeling pretty.
"Good morning everyone!" Kaede's cheerful voice called out as she skipped to the kitchen.
"Someone's in a good mood" Maki said.
"I'm pretty fucking surprised Kaediot woke up this early after a late shift."
"Good morning Kaede" Tsumugi said before sipping her coffee.
"Geez! Is Tsumugi gonna be the only one who says good morning to me?" Kaede said, annoyed.
The room went quiet, giving her an answer.
"Hrmmm fine!" Kaede stomped before swiftly turning on her heel and walking to the door. She got out her white sneakers that were in a small shelf. She quickly put them on and grabbed her house keys.
"Where are you going?" Maki questioned.
"Yeah! It's eight fucking am! Aren't you gonna eat?"
"Actually I'll eat later. I'm going on a picnic so I'll eat there. Right now I'm going to buy snacks for then."
"Ay buy extra candy or chips! A new season came out we're gonna binge watch all of it!" Miu shouted as Kaede walked out the door.

Kaede walked to the grocery store nearby, it was fresh and sunny, perfect picnic weather. Once inside the store, Kaede grabbed a basket and began walking around. "Alright! Where do I begin...?" She walked through store, grabbing a watermelon and adding it into the basket. She also got fresh strawberries, two bento boxes, some Onigiri, and mochi. And a few Japanese candies and chips for her roommates. "Hmmmm....I think this is enough. Shuichi did say he would take care of the main food."
Kaede skipped back home humming whatever piano pieces came to her mind. She inserted her keys and entered the dorm. She immediately got out the snacks and began to prepare everything, washing the fruit, cutting the watermelon, preparing the bento and Onigiri, and adding the mochi. She made sure everything was neat before getting out a picnic basket. She packed everything and added the picnic cloth on top.
Kaede looked at her phone, 12:27, she should start heading to the park. The blonde grabbed everything and eagerly skipped out the door.
Today. Today would be a good day.
