Donghyuck was engrossed, completely consumed by the pages of his book and the endless stream of notes he was taking. Three hours into their study session at the library, Gayoon was impressed—and overwhelmed. She had finished her objectives for the day, but the male hadn't even glanced up, not even to sip from the coffee she had nudged toward him earlier.

She admired his determination, though it left her feeling like a slacker by comparison. His brows furrowed in concentration, lips moving silently as he read. Then, as if on cue, he began scribbling notes with the precision of someone who thrived under pressure.

Gayoon leaned back in her chair, her head throbbing from information overload. She gathered her borrowed books into a neat pile and reached into the paper bag for the snacks they'd bought earlier.

Am I allowed to interrupt him? she wondered, munching on a fry while watching him.

"Hyuck," she called softly, tapping her fingers on the table.

"Just a minute," he replied, his pen gliding furiously across the paper.

Gayoon sighed. She grabbed another fry and leaned forward, placing it at his lips. Donghyuck opened his mouth without looking up, chewing absently before murmuring, "No more fries?"

"They're gone," she said flatly. "What does he like to eat?" she asked, almost to herself.

"Shin Gayoon"

Gayoon blinked. "Huh?"

"Can you sit beside me?"

"Me? Why?"

Instead of answering, Donghyuck gestured vaguely to the seat next to him. Bewildered, Gayoon gathered the bag of snacks and rounded the table.

As she settled on his left, she peeked at his books and notes. The pages were dense with diagrams, bullet points, and annotations, and all she could do was blink in confusion.

"Do you want anything else to eat?" he asked suddenly.

"No."

"Does your head hurt?"

The question caught her off guard. Gayoon stayed quiet, and Donghyuck chuckled, finally setting his pen down and stretching his arms.

"Sorry," he said with a sheepish grin. "I tend to overdo it during exams."

"Why? Are your exams harder than usual?"

"Our professor decided to include mock trials alongside written exams. So yeah, it's like taking two exams every term."

"That's insane!" Gayoon exclaimed.

Donghyuck shrugged. "It's my problem, not yours. Why are you so worked up?"

Gayoon huffed, taking a bite of her sandwich. Without warning, Donghyuck grabbed her wrist, bringing her hand—and the sandwich—to his mouth.

"That's my favorite," she grumbled.

He grinned. "What do you know? It's my favorite too."

Gayoon rolled her eyes. Yeah, right. It's my sandwich recipe, after all.
