It didn't take long before the news of a new pair of soulmates spread like wildfire through the house. The vibrant chatter escalated as everyone introduced themselves, exchanging pleasantries with Donghyuck, the newcomer. The energy in the air was infectious, as the guests eagerly engaged in small talk with him, and with the crowd of mostly men, Donghyuck hardly stood alone for even a moment.
Throughout the night, Donghyuck navigated through conversations with ease, making sure to speak with Gayoon's parents as well. His well-off family had also been introduced, though he conveniently left out the details of his parents' separation. He still carried his father's surname, and the topic felt too delicate to share just yet. However, despite this omission, Donghyuck effortlessly connected with everyone, and it wasn't long before Gayoon's family warmed up to him. As expected, Donghyuck had a way with people—his charm and kindness making him easy to approach, easy to like.
After what seemed like an eternity of mingling, Donghyuck finally found himself standing in the corner, taking a breather from the constant socializing. Gayoon, noticing the moment of respite, seized the opportunity to approach him.
"You've been with them the whole night. Did you ever refrain from talking?" she teased, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
Donghyuck chuckled, pulling her closer by the waist. "I was looking around for you," he smiled. "Your family is really nice, though. Loud, but nice."
Gayoon raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. "Yeah?"
He then tilted his head, his expression turning more thoughtful. "Your family is lovely, Gayoon."
Gayoon laughed. "Of course they are. It's hard not to love them... even when they're loud enough to shake the walls." Changing the subject, she nudged him gently. "How's Yizhuo doing?"
Donghyuck leaned back against the wall. "She's probably still in her room, playing games. I'm pretty sure she hasn't left the bed all night."
"Has she eaten yet?" Gayoon asked, her voice tinged with concern.
"Oh, for sure," Donghyuck answered, shaking his head with a small laugh. "She can't skip meals. She'd probably eat in her sleep if she could."
"Well, we should still pack some food for her later, just in case," Gayoon suggested.
Donghyuck nodded, his gaze drifting as he noticed Jisung walking toward them.
"I've been looking all over for some company," Jisung said, grinning as he approached them.
They both chuckled at his antics.
"Where's Yuna?" Donghyuck asked, raising an eyebrow.
"She's with her family," Jisung replied, shrugging. "Doyoung-hyung isn't here, so I figured I could hang out with you two for a bit."
"Yeah, for a very short bit," Donghyuck joked, nudging his head toward the group nearby. "Your soulmate's over there."
Jisung's eyes flicked toward Yuna, who was standing a few feet away. She immediately noticed his attention, crossing the room to cling to his arm.
"Why did you leave?" she whined, playfully tugging on Jisung's sleeve.
"I thought the family talk was important," he said, feigning seriousness.
