The tension at the table was palpable, almost overwhelming, but the invisible bond between the soulmates still hummed quietly beneath it all, trying its best to ease the storm of unspoken emotions that clung to the air.

The two pairs of soulmates sat at the dining table, an array of mouthwatering food laid before them, while Hena placed the utensils down with practiced hands.

Gayoon and Yizhuo exchanged a silent glance, communicating volumes without uttering a word, their eyes flicking towards their respective soulmates.

Gayoon cleared her throat, breaking the silence. "Ma, you should sit and eat with us," she offered warmly, her attempt to ease the tension in the room.

Her mom smiled at her, then turned to Donghyuck with a knowing look. "Oh dear, I may be losing my empathy, but I can still see what's going on. Donghyuck, hijo, stop glaring at Yangyang." She shook her head in disapproval, then turned to Yangyang with a more comforting smile. "Eat lots, mijo. We'll talk when I come back, okay?"

Yizhuo pouted slightly, giving her mom a disappointed look. "Ma, can't you take a day off?"

Hena chuckled, moving over to kiss Yizhuo's head. "Be good to your soulmate, okay? Mama will just check on the hospital; it won't take very long."

"Thank you for the warm welcome, mama," Yangyang beamed, trying to ease the situation with a smile.

Donghyuck clicked his tongue in irritation. "Mama, my ass," he muttered under his breath.

"Lee Donghyuck," Gayoon hissed, glaring at him, but she quickly turned to Hena and asked, "Do you want us to drive you there, ma?"

"No, it's okay; you should eat. Donghyuck, take care of Gayoon." Hena smiled warmly.

"Yes, ma." Donghyuck pecked his mother's cheek before walking her out.

As soon as the door closed behind them, the room's atmosphere shifted again.

"Oh, this looks delicious. Let's eat, shall we?" Gayoon said, her voice light, trying to move things forward. They began to eat, the tension easing slightly.

But it didn't last long.

"Liu Yangyang," Donghyuck's voice cut through the air like a knife, low and cold.

Yangyang choked on his food in surprise, his eyes wide. Gayoon paused, her gaze snapping to Donghyuck.

"Oppa, you're so mean!" Yizhuo whined, rubbing Yangyang's back as he gulped down an entire glass of water.

But Donghyuck stayed still, his eyes narrowing, his focus on Yangyang, ignoring the gentle taps Gayoon gave him on the thigh.

"I'm still not over you," Donghyuck said, his tone dark.

"I'm not planning anything bad, Donghyuck," Yangyang replied calmly. "I know you don't like me, but I promise, I won't hurt your sister."

Donghyuck raised an eyebrow. "I'm not letting you break what's mine—Gayoon or my sister."

"I'm not here for anything other than being Yizhuo's soulmate," Yangyang said, trying to steady the tension. "I'm at your house, sitting at your table and meeting your mom as Yizhuo's soulmate. There's no other reason for me to be here."
