8 years later...
"Kili, Fili help me!" Esmerelda cried as Goblins grabbed her by the hood of her coat, they hooked their claws under her tender, youthful skin and her clothes, they tried dragging her back to their lair, but she broke from their grip and tried to run towards her brothers, but she too slow as her shredded skin sowed her down.
2 goblins snatched her arms back and dragged her back again, this time she was not escaping but then Kili and Fili were surrounded Goblins, they watched as their sister was dragged away and there was nothing they could do, as their path had been blocked off.
The day before...
Kili and Esmerelda had just turned 18, Thorin gathered both teenagers and Fili into the living room and he collapsed into the arm chair, that they all knew so well.
"Listen, you guys have all come of age to prove you're worthy lines of Thrain" Thorin began.
"Filis past it" Esmerelda pointed out to him.
"That would be because I wanted to keep you all as a family, as I know you would be safer and be able to protect each other" he explained. "Now the mission you have to go on is you have to retrieve the family sword with the Thrain crest on the handle, after you bring it back to me, here's the map, a compass and you all have my luck to travel with you, as each of you wear the family bead in your hair, be proud when you wear it." He explained. "Any questions?" he added. They all exchanged glances and shook their heads.
"Now rest up you're going to need it" Thorin warned and they all returned to their rooms. Esmerelda and Fili couldn't wait but Kili was nervous, he had grown used to the familiar Blue Mountains, and felt safe. The morning couldn't come quicker for them.
They got up and got ready, they strapped on their leather and their weapons. Dis had made breakfast for them as she left it on the table for them, but Esmerelda and Fili were too excited to eat anything but after some complaining from their mother they managed to eat a little bit. Thorin and Dis were both heart broken to see their children leaving so soon. They walked out to their mounts, who were saddled, bridled and they have the packs of supplies on their backs as well as their sleeping equipment.
"Take care of one another" Dis said kissing them each one by one on the head.
"Boys especially your sister" Thorin added.
They looked at each other and nodded. "You are children of Durin, you will make us proud" Thorin finished.
"We will try" Esmerelda squeaked.
"You will" Dis said reassuring her and resting her hand on Esmerelda's shoulder.
They all mounted their steeds, Thorin and Dis said their last goodbyes and they left at a gallop, but at least they left before they could see their mother breakdown in tears, Thorin comforted his sister the best he could. When their children disappeared from their sight, Thorin and Dis retreated back into their house.
"Guys wait for me!" Kili called as Fili and Esmerelda's steeds galloped ahead, but poor Kilis pony was puffing and panting, they had been galloping for four hours and their steeds began to complain, so they stopped by a river allowing them to graze and eat.
"Why don't we set up camp here" Fili suggested.
"It will give my horse and your ponies a rest" Esmerelda said.
"Fine" Kili agreed.
But what they didn't realise was that they were in Goblin territory, they set their bedding up and Fili began cooking and Kili and Esmerelda were filling up their goat skin flasks, but what they didn't know was that a horde of Goblins were heading their way, as they could smell their youthful blood. The Goblins chattered to one another, and smiled horribly at one another flashing their yellow teeth to one another. But they laughed like a pack of Hyenas.
Kili and Esmerelda returned from the river and joined their brother who was cooking them rabbit on a spit. "Seriously that won't feed all of us!" Kili exclaimed.
"Ohl little brother when will you stop underestimating me?" Fili asked his brother.
"Guys what was that?" Esmerelda asked, as her shape shifter hearing had kicked in.
"What was what?" Kili asked sliding out his loyal blade.
The Goblin horde got closer and closer to their unsuspecting victims.
"You're just tired get some rest" Fili told her, but oh how wrong he was! The Goblins sprung out of the bushes surrounding them. "Goblins!" Fili exclaimed hauling his sword from its scabbard, Esmerelda pulled her sword from her side and all three of them stood back to back, so they could see from every angle.
The Goblins charged and so did they cutting down everyone who crossed them, black blood flying everywhere coating their skin, clothes and hair. A Goblin had cut Esmerelda on her thigh and she collapsed to the ground, but was now an easy target, the Goblins got to work with hooking their claws under her pure youthful skin, and began to bind her hands and drag her away, she only broke from their grip only once as she tried to run to her brothers, the surprised Goblins soon caught up to her again and resumed their grip on her arms.
"Kili, Fili help me" She cried.
Kili ran but a Goblin knocked him out with the handle of its sword before he could reach her, she was struggling against them but she was too far from them, Fili watched helplessly as his sister was dragged away from him, by the time Kili came around they were surrounded, their path blocked and their sister gone there was nothing they could do except fight till no more Goblins were standing, then rescue their sister.
Esmerelda was in pain, her flesh and clothes torn but her will and spirit would never be broken, she was a daughter of Durin.
