Fili and Kili were smothered in ebony blood, corpses upon corpses of Goblins were piled high, the brothers pulled together and set to work to burn the bodies. "Where do you think they took her?" Kili asked.
"Back to their lair" Fili answered not looking his brother in the eyes.
"What do you think they'll do to her?" Kili asked.
"I don't know, and its not something I want to think about" Fili snapped.
"Sorry" Kili said looking at the floor.
"Do you think they'll torture her?" Kili added.
"Kili she'll be fine, stop worrying" Fili said trying to put his brothers mind at ease.
Esmeraldas' arms had been tied with rope but she had been tied to a platform, with skulls on the sides, but she was hanging there, her arms taking her weight, but the blood only leaked and cascaded down her arms, rope and dripped onto her clothing. She was weak and dazed, she ignored the incessant whispering and tried to focus on staying alive.
"What do we have here?" The Goblin King asked, she could feel the floor shake as he thumped towards her, he was right behind her and pulled her head back by her hair.
"This is no Dwarf, you fools!" The Goblin explained. "Can't you see she's too tall and her build is different" he added.
"But she wears the beads of Thrain!" A goblin explained.
"That's Thorin's crest!" he exclaimed as he pulled on her hair to see it clearly.
"What is it then?" A goblin asked.
"Yes tell us what are you?" The Goblin King prompted her with a light touch in her ribs with the end of his cane.
"None of your business!" She wheezed and spat at him, which resulted in him punching her in the ribs, she didn't dare scream out loud as Thorin told her it made her look weak to her enemies, but she heard as well as felt one of her ribs snap, he did this twice till a ruby liquid dribbled from her lips, and onto the floor.
"I wonder what hand is it that you fought with?" He asked.
"Her left" A goblin answered, she panicked.
'Why did he care?' She asked herself, but soon found out as a searing pain travelled from her hand and down her arm, she heard her bones cracking, as he squeezed as hard as he could to shatter the bones in her hand, she tried not to cry but she couldn't keep them at bay, the tears collected in her eyes like pools and then dripped down her cheeks.
"It cries!" the Goblin King announced.
Kili and Fili were exhausted, they settled down for the night and they would start their search in the morning, Kili slept restlessly he kept tossing and turning but it wasn't his usual nightmare it was his imagination running riot, he was dreaming about the Goblins and he was watching them torture her, he woke up shouting his sisters name, he woke Fili up who turned over on his sleeping mat with his back to his brother. "Kili go to sleep" he called.
"I can't not while I know my sister is with those monsters" he told his brother.
"She'll be okay, I know it" Fili reassured him.
The whole of Esmeraldas' clothes on her back had been torn, with the Goblins claws, her Thrain bead and clasp had been torn from her hair which left a short chunk on the left hand side of her head which was now shoulder length and did not match the rest of her long orange curls which fell, the Goblin King was only sharpening the blades on the end of his cruel, spiteful whip as he was preparing it for Esmerelda, he was trying to make the sharpening sound loud trying to scare and intimidate the young shape shifter, but she didn't let it she just blocked everything out.
"Now if you don't tell us who you are, this is going to painful for you!" The Goblin King warned.
"Now who are you?" he hissed saliva running out of his lips, she remained silent, the whip hit her back with a crack and tore her flesh, she had to bite her lip to hold the agonizing scream in, he asked the same question over and over again but she kept quiet. The whip soon made contact with her back again and it punished her flesh, making her bleed and the blood to flood onto the ground below her, her flesh was ripped into pieces some of it getting caught on the whips blade and laying on the ground amongst the blood. Her back was raw and red there was barely any skin left on it, the Goblin king had now exposed the muscle.
The sun was only rising, the two brothers were only waking up, they didn't bother with breakfast, but they took her horse with them but it carried the rest of their kit and supplies, they had found scraps of her clothing which had been torn against the trees branches and a few of them even had blood on them.
"She's injured" Kili announced. Fili just looked at the ground.
"We need to find her now" Kili panicked giving his pony a hard nudge in the ribs making it neigh softly and went off at a gallop, so then Fili's pony followed.
They frantically followed the Goblins footprints till they disappeared, into a mountain side, the brothers were close but they needed to get to her soon.
The Goblin King thrusted his thick wooden sceptre into her side, making her scream. "There's the noise I've been longing to hear" he teased her. He wrenched her head back by her hair, and dug his claws into her bloodied and torn back.
"Do you know what I am going to brake next to?" he quizzed her. She just whimpered a reply. "I am going to brake your leg" he told her, a Goblin handed him a hammer, he pushed her head forward and swung the hammer into her leg, she cried out in pain and her bone broke through her pure skin.
"Kill me" she wheezed.
"What?" he asked.
"Kill me" she said, blood still leaking from her lips.
"What would the fun be in that. Now this is really going to hurt" he said cutting the ropes and she dropped to the floor on her broken hand and wrist and leg, she cried out one more time before the Goblin King knocked her head against the stone floor and her cries were silent.
"That's our sister" Kili stated as the Goblin King held a huge spear above her body, he carefully took an arrow from his quiver loaded it in his bow and then shot it at the spear knocking it from his hand.
"Who was that?" He called.
