A Brothers Bond

Chapter VIIII

Kili looked at Fili, but he only shrugged back at his brother.

"You're mother is our mother Dis"Kili said.

"No my birth mother" She said shrugging her brothers hand from her shoulder.

"Oh" Fili answered.

"Well we can protect you from them taking you" Kili added.

"Thanks" She answered her eyes still looking at the floor.

"I am sorry for what I said" Kili apologised.

"Brother its okay" Esmerelda answered and rested her hand on his shoulder.

"In the morning we leave early, so get some sleep" Fili told them.

Esmerelda laid down on her mat and Kili slept on his, Fili kept an eye out on the land as well as his sister in case she needed him during the night, in the morning Fili heard a snort and he noticed that his sister was in her horse form and was already awake. So once Kili was up they packed their things, well what they had left and instead of piling it on their sisters back, they each carried their own.

Esmereldas hearing was super sensitive when she was in horse form, so her ears flicked around like crazy. "What are you hearing?" Kili asked.

"Everything" She answered. They trudged through a flooded field and was high as their waists but Esmerelda was dry, well except for her legs and tail, but she saw the state of her brothers and snorted in laughter as they were covered in mud, they both shot her a glance, if looks could kill!

"Fine" She sighed and allowed Kili to clamber onto her back, but just as Fili was about to, he tripped and sunk into the mud face first.

"Fili!" Both Kili and Esmerelda yelled.

"Kili there's a rope in the second saddle bag" She panicked and he found it, Kili jumped from his sisters back and then tried to find Fili beneath the murderous mud, once found, Kili tied the rope around his stomach and between Esmerelda and Kili, they heaved and managed to haul their brother out on the dry dusted ground, Fili turned onto his side and coughed up the dirty water and mud.

"Here" Kili said handing his brother his goat skin containing water.

"Thank you" He said and coughed, once Fili was recovered, Kili clambered onto her back and then helped his brother onto her back, she decided to walk instead of galloping so her brothers didn't lose their balance.

"How much longer?" She complained.

"About a few more hours and we're there" Fili answered.

"You both are quite heavy for Dwarflings" She snorted but managed to gallop a little bit, by her back was beginning to get sore. "Guys can you get off please?" She asked.

"Yeah" Both brothers said and got off, and she then turned into human. They had one more hill to climb down and then all they needed to do was to retrieve the sword.

"We work together" Fili told them. "This is the last leg of the journey and I don't want to lose you both" He finished. So the trio kept close to one another their hands resting on the hilts of their weapons, the hill was steep but they didn't realise how slippy the mud was, they were all weighed down with weapons and they helped each other along if either of them lost their footing, the trio finally came to the top and could see all around middle earth.

There was a huge rock structure in front of them and it had an entrance to it and this was where the sword was located, the only problem the inside of the structure was infested with Goblins, but the other problem was that they had enslaved Wargs to guard the sword and the outside of the structure.

The trio lay on the bank of the hill on their stomachs observing the structure. "We stick together!" Fili exclaimed. "No one separate, we fight together" Fili finished.

The trio set off keeping close, watching left and right as they bounded across the grassy plain, their weapons raised high. Three Wargs turned their heads to their direction, then went lolloping at the Dwarflings one leapt onto Esmerelda pushing her to the floor, pining her down roaring in her face and saliva dripping onto it. Another charged at Fili knocking his sword from his hand, another bounded towards Kili snapping his bow and braking his quiver, the arrows pitter pattering as they dropped onto the floor.

Esmerelda kicked out at the Warg using the knife in her boot and stabbed the beast, it yelped in pain before collapsing onto the young shape shifter who decided to change into her horse form and trampled the Wargs body for good measure, it bit her leg as she was about to trample its head, Fili managed to slide across the ground and retrieved his sword, Kili soon resorted to using his weapon, he slashed the Warg in the face causing it to pine and drawing the attention of Fili and Esmerelda.

Esmerelda kicked her Warg before finally killing it, then to distract Filis she kicked it in the flank, it turned around and gave Fili enough time to jump onto its back and thrust his sword into the head of the beast, then they helped their brother, the Warg had Kili pinned to the ground, its jaws inches away from his throat, it had his wrists held to the floor by its paws, he saw Fili and Esmerelda running towards him but they were too late as the Warg bit into Kilis tender neck, making him cry out a gurgled scream, as his blood collected in his throat, soaking his vocal chords.

Their pace quickened and Esmerelda kicked the Warg in the side of the head killing it instantly and the Warg collapsing onto Kili, Fili was trying his best to make his brother comfortable but he could see the light in Kilis eyes dimming.
