The stone door was beginning to shut, Fili looked from his brother to his sister. "Go you're the eldest, I'll stay with Kili" Esmerelda insisted. So he ran at the entrance and then rolled under it, as soon as he was through the door slammed shut behind him.
'No turning back now' He thought.
"No, no, Kili you're not dying on me!" Esmerelda exclaimed. She searched her pockets to see if she had any of the healing liquid she had used on her to heal her wounds, but she couldn't find any, so she checked Filis back pack and pulled everything out, till she found the bottle at the bottom of it and only had a little bit left in it, but it was enough to heal Kili.
Fili had been swarmed by goblins, his swords held high and they were threatening to slice through the very bodies of the goblins, but the smiling blades glinted and shone in the flickering candlelight, the sword was with in his grasp. "Oh look a Dwarfling, I understand there were three of you!" One Goblin exclaimed stepping forward.
"The other two are probably dead" Another one interjected.
Esmerelda had found a tree and had laid Kili against the tree trunk so it supported his torso, she had given him the rest of the healing liquor and he was now resting, Esmerelda had pushed her sword blade into the ground and leant on the handle watching the stone structure waiting for Fili to emerge, she soon began to pace up and down with the blade resting on her shoulder.
Fili was now covered from head to toe in black blood as he slaughtered every goblin which charged at him, there were two tunnels one going left and another right and he had to choose the one which would lead him to the sword and the other to his doom. Esmerelda was telepathically linked and told him to take the right tunnel as she could also see through his eyes. 'How's Kili?' He asked.
'Better I used the last of the healing liquor on him' She said.
'Good' He answered before scampering down the tunnel, but he trod on a loose stone path and arrows shot out of the wall either side of him, Fili collapsed to the ground on his stomach as the arrows flew above him, one scraped his arm and another stuck in his leg, as he wasn't quick enough.
Kili and Esmerelda didn't know but a group of elves were scanning the area for Orcs and saw Kili slumped against the tree and Esmerelda in her horse form pacing forwards and backwards, she caught the sight of their armour glinting in the sun as they came galloping over to them, but she then turned into her human form and grabbed her sword and knife and stood in a crouched pose threatening them.
Fili just pulled the shaft of the arrow out of his leg, and with a grunt he carried on his journey, he tried contacting his sister but as she was dealing with the elves she couldn't speak to him right there and then, he leant on the wall pushing a brick in and two axes began swinging out of no where, he had to flatten himself against a wall so they didn't hit him. The elves had dragged Kili onto the back of a horse even after all the time she detested and yelled at them to put him down, Kili was only a coming around and noticed he was not on the ground.
He heard his sisters cries as an elf picked her up and tried to put her on the back of his horse, but she broke free of his grip ad was sent tumbling off the horse, and they gave up on her and galloped back to Mirkwood. "Kili" She yelled after her brother.
"Esmerelda" He answered and tried breaking out of the elves grip but he was too weak, he watched as his sister perished from sight. Esmerelda tried chasing them but remembered she needed to wait for her other brother, who had nearly fallen into a pit of sharp stakes grinning up at him, daring him to fall but he pulled himself up again and there opposite him was the family sword, it was laid horizontally with 2 hooks on either end of it holding it there in place, the blade glinting and smiling at its rescuer.
There in a pit bellow him laid a sleeping serpent, the guardian which guarded the sacred weapon almost as if though it owned it. Fili made one step and his footfall rang out around the cavern waking the serpent from its slumber, its great head reared above Fili, its scales shone in the dimly lit room in a brilliant emerald, its pink tongue flicked with anticipation as it couldn't wait to sink its fangs into its Dwarf sized meal, the beast darted its head towards Fili but he dived out of the way so the creature bit the rock instead, causing the rock to crack and collapse from under Filis boots which sent him crashing down into the pit with the snake like creature and hitting its body.
That drew its attention back to him, it whipped its head around and coiled its body around Filis threatening to choke the life out of him, he tried to wiggle free but the serpent only grew stronger and tightened its grip around him, just as his ribs were beginning to cave in on themselves he struck the serpents scaled shield, it let out a hiss before dropping Fili onto the platform where the sword was, he had it in his sights, just as he got up and went to run for the glinting weapon the serpent grabbed Filis boot biting into his foot and he cried aloud, the serpent had him dangling in mid air, just as the serpent was about to eat him Fili slipped his foot out of his boot, and managed to clamber onto the snake, he drove his sword into its skull, the creature squealed before dropping down dead, plummeting to the ground, Fili jumped onto the ledge and managed to catch his boot before it fell with the dying beast, he sat on the ledge pulling it back on, he ran to the sword and then picked it up.
He had retrieved the sword, the only problem was getting out of the cavern again, but since his sister wasn't responding to him it was going to be hard.
