A Brothers Bond

Chapter XVIII

Esmerelda bid her goodbyes, Kili crying hysterically and begged Thorin to do something but he was powerless. Dis was crying just as hard, she had a back pack and that was it, she was escorted out of Erebor and the first place she went to was the iron hills of Dain, she desperately wanted to find her brother, and tell him of the news. She was in fact welcomed with open arms.

They took her straight to Fili, she explained the situation and all agreed that what Thorin did was wrong. They took her onto training earlier than she should have been but she had no where to go. Her skills soon improved and she was accepted into the army, but it was a mix of Elves and Dwarves, they had no prejudice in this army.

Five years later. . .

"Do you Maedhros take Esmeralda to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The dwarven priest asked.

"I do." The long red haired elf answered.

"Do you Esmeralda take Maedhros to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." She answered, without permission they both kissed. The elf knelt down to her level making it easier for her, Fili had introduced him to his sister from day one, they then grew closer and their bond tighter. After the wedding their after party was held in the great hall, with singing, dancing and drinking. Fili was very proud of his sister, and was glad he could see her grow but while also in Dain he took on the fatherly roll, taking care of his sister.

As she grew she developed a bitter hatred towards Thorin, Fili tried all he could to try to reason with her but she wouldn't listen, she didn't want to know.  Esmeralda seemed happier with Maedhros, she had never seemed to have smiled or laughed so much, she would ride on the same horse behind the tall elf, the only half dwarf half elf to ride such a big mount. If Thorin found out he would be furious, but Esmeralda didn't care she was happy.

Fili and Esmeralda walked the great halls together. "Do you think you will ever forgive Thorin?" Fili asked.

"Probably not." She replied, twiddling the end of her braid around her finger.

"But you have to return when your exile is up!" He exclaimed.

"No, I have no home there." She replied.

"It's only five years but what about your brother? How about our mother, last I heard she was very distraught!" He yelled, stopping them both on the spot.

"They will have to meet me and Maedhros on the outskirts of Erebor." She spoke up. Fili just sighed and stormed off leaving Esmeralda on her own. She ran a hand down her face and walked out to the entrance of Dain.  She took in a deep breath shifted into her horse form and galloped off, galloping through the forest, jumping over fallen logs and stopped at a watering hole, she stood there panting, just as she lowered her head someone emerged from the other side and it was Thorin himself.
