You rest your hands on her chest, beating and pumping her love for you, but you don't feel it. You don't feel anything.
•••3 weeks earlier...
"Where are you going?" You sat up in bed covering your bare front with the sheet, watching as your wife started packing her luggage. The morning sunlight highlighted the room. Her blonde hair that draped over her shoulders seemed to glow. "I have some meetings in New York. I'll be back in a few days." She said as if it didn't phase her being gone that long.
"Billie c'mon, you just got home." Your voice sounded pathetic. "I know, but this is really important okay?" Billie walked over lifting your chin with her fingers pressing a kiss on your temple. You caught a glimpse of her bra underneath her dusty pink blouse and pearls as she bent over the bed. It was her favorite.
Billie ascended downstairs dragging her bags behind her. You trailed behind after putting on one of Billies shirts. It was big on you and it was her favorite thing to see you in. Billie opened the front door, heading to her car packing her belongings in the back seat. "Will you be okay?" She asked in a tone as if she had to. You gave her a nod standing on the porch barefoot and hair slightly ruffled for all the neighborhood to see.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. Call or text me when you get there." You waved her off. Billie gave you a small tug on her lips and before you knew it she was out of the driveway and down the road.
•••While Billie was on her trips you made it routine to clean the house. This seemed to clear your mind in a healthy way instead of indulging in the wine cellar. The blonde always got on you about that.
You made your way upstairs starting with the bed sheets. You pulled one of the corners of the sheet from under the mattress, a whiff of perfume stirred in the air. You moved over to the pillow cases stripping them from the material and the same smell whirled around. You took Billie's pillow to your nose hoping to be met with her signature scent. The one you loved so much.
Cocking an eyebrow, you took another smell of the fabric. It was different. It wasn't like Billie, Billie's perfume was natural and airy, this wasn't either of those things and it sure as hell wasn't yours. Tossing the bedding into the laundry basket you held it to your hip going to the laundry room.
The ring of the doorbell stop you in your tracks. Setting the basket down on the washer you hurried downstairs to get the door. It rang again. "Hold on, keep it in your pants." You opened the door meeting your neighbor on the other side.
"Ally!"•••
Ally Mayfair Richards. Senator and your best friend. She had been your neighbor from across the street since you and Billie had gotten married and moved into the neighborhood three years ago. The brunette would come over and spend the day or evenings with you while Billie was on her trips.
•••"Hey good morning." Ally greeted as you welcomed her into your home. "I saw Billie leave this morning." You nodded heading back upstairs to the laundry, Ally followed of course. "Didnt she just get back?" Ally leaned up against the doorway. "Yeah, she said she had a meeting or something. She'll be back in a few days." The brunette chuckled to herself, "so, did you two have "fun" last night" Giving your friend a rasied eyebrow. "Haha very funny. No, she's been tired with all the traveling lately so ya know." Ally hummed in response.
"Can you smell this?" You held up Billies pillow case. "Woah- hey, I love you Y/N, but that's a little weird for me to stick my nose in your wife's sheets." You rolled your eyes. "No here," you went and got Billies perfume bottle to compare the two scents. "Do they smell different to you?" Ally did as you told. "What are you proposing?" She asked. Her eyes said it all.
Ally was cheated on by her ex-wife so she knew exactly what you were trying to say. "Nothing. Just, do they smell the same or not?" Ally shook her head no. Bobbing your head, you piled the bedding into the washer putting more soap in than usual before semi storming out of the room. "Hey now, that doesn't mean anything. She could have used something different for a change." Ally followed you downstairs into the kitchen as you poured two cups of coffee.
"I don't know, she's been really reserved and distant recently and when she comes home she acts like she doesn't want to be here." You took a sip from the cup. "How did you know that Ivy was." Ally looked up from her cup swallowing hard. She didn't like talking about her ex but she knew you were just worried for your own marriage. "Well, she sort of pushed me away, intimately as well. Spent more time with Oz than usual. Maybe because she felt bad I don't know exactly. But she did smell different she she came home later at night. Found hairs that didn't belong to either of us stuff like that. It didn't happen all at once though."
Ally finished and tears were at the brink of your eyes. Ally stood up from the chair holding you in her arms. "I'm sure it's not what you think. With travel, couples tend to worry more, that's okay. She loves you Y/N." Ally cupped your cheeks wiping the tears from your face.
•••It had been a few days since Billie left. Ally came and went every other day, you cleaned the house where no spot was untouched. You organized her office yesterday and found a diamond bracelet tucked away in her desk drawer. You put it back hoping she was going to surprise you with it later.
Keys jingled in the front door soon flying wide open. Low and behold there she was in all her golden haired glory. You got up from the couch meeting Billie at the door. "Hi honey." She greeted you. The older woman leaned in kissing those lips she had been parted from for too long. "Hi." You smiled.
Billies hands found your waist. "Listen, I have a surprise for you." Your arms wrapped around the nape of her neck. "I'm listening." You grinned. "I have an event for my shows premiere and I want you to come with me. It's red carpet so you can go all out." Billie explained with her hands, you loved it when she did that. You also loved how her eyes sparked when she talked about something she enjoyed or was excited for.
Maybe you were wrong after all...
