They say in order to heal,
You must stay away from
what hurt you...•••
It's been three months. Three months since Billie walked into your house packing the last of her things. It's been three months and you moved on. Tired of her mistakes and false promises. You didn't reply to her "I miss you" texts nor did you answer her calls all while she was still busy in the sheets with someone else.
You had been healing. Finding your strength, realizing you were better off without her.—
Today...
You lit another candle. Many scents of Vanilla and lavender from each one whisked around the room, filling the air. As you place it down on the coffee table soft music started to play. You rested comfortably on the sofa, with a book in hand and a glass of red wine in the other. Enjoying the quiet of this late Friday night.
You were finishing up the chapter and a familiar knock hit your front door. Based on the three knock pattern, you knew who it was. "Ally" you opened up greeting the brunette. "Hello there." Ally peaked behind you seeing the dark setting with the candles and the sheer robe you were wearing over your comfy clothes. "Are you expecting someone?" She whispers. You laugh, "No you can come in."
Ally welcomes herself in. At this point this is practically her second home. "So whatcha doin?" She helps herself to a glass of wine from the bottle that is still on the counter. "Just reading." You sat back down on the couch taking a sip of your own glass. "Candles, wine, what kind of book is it?" Ally leans over the back of the couch reading the page you are on.
Her eyes widen. "We need to get you a girlfriend." She says trying to hide a grin in her glass as she sits across from you on the sofa."Oh my god." You tease and playfully hit her leg with the book. You share a laugh before a comfortable silence goes cold over the room. With your nose buried in the pages, you failed to notice the way Ally looks at you.
She thought of your smile as a breath of fresh air. She knows she can look into your eyes and feel safe. Her past doesn't matter to you, she doesn't have to change who she is. You don't know you're what she looks forward to when she gets off of work and when she can't see you it pulls at her heart a little. She loves how you can go without talking for hours and it won't be awkward. You bring a side of her out she didn't know existed. Yet, if someone told her to describe you, she'd be standing there for hours looking for the right words.
It was only a couple of days ago the brunette realized, she was in love with you.
You flipped the page as you finished another chapter. Ally adjusted her position on the couch facing you. You glanced up from the top of the book smiling. "Y/N?" Ally's voice was quiet. "Yes?" You lowered the pages from your face. Ally's finger traced over the pattern in the cushions as she stammered a question. "Would you like to have dinner with me?" Her hands were clamoring. "What was that?" You asked, her tone sensed that she was insecure.
Ally took a deep breath. Normally she wasn't a nervous wreck, let alone around you. "Would you like to have dinner with me? Say tomorrow?" You put your book down on the coffee table next to the wine glass. "I would love to." You rested your hands on top of her shaking ones. Getting up you walked behind the couch leaning into her ear. "I heard you the first time."
She had no idea you felt the same.
