You are not going through with this.

I pulled the comforter over a pile of my pillows. They didn't exactly look like the shape of a body. At first glance, I couldn't really tell the difference. I stopped to take a deep breath as I smoothed out the bottom of my shirt. Mom and Dad had gone to bed a little while ago. There was still doubt that they would catch me.

This is a bad idea, Eden. You don't have to do this.

Eddie was going to be outside waiting for me any minute. I just had to sneak out. Then we'd be on our way to his gig. That's if he actually showed. I didn't doubt that he wouldn't, but part of me hoped he wouldn't.

My bedroom was on the lowest floor of the house. Otherwise, sneaking out the window would be difficult. I walked to the window, looking for Eddie. He wasn't there a few minutes ago. I saw his van by the stop sign at the end of my block.

It's now or never Eden.

I reached for my window, slowly sliding it up and praying that it didn't make a noise. Sneaking out was exactly as terrifying as I thought it would be. I felt sick when my feet touched the ground outside my room. I wouldn't go if I stopped to think about it.

I slid my window closed and then moved as quietly as I could away from the house.

My breathing was heavy from my nervousness as I reached Eddie's van. Without saying a word to him, I whipped the door open and jumped in. I kept my hand on the door handle, thinking about leaving. Eddie looked at me, not moving the van until he knew I wasn't going anywhere.

"I didn't think you'd actually come." Eddie said.

"Just drive before I change my mind." I put my seatbelt on and swallowed hard.

"Before we go to the Hideout, we have to make one stop."

"Where at?"

"My trailer. Do you know how to do eyeliner?"

"Yeah."

"Good. I need your help then. It never works. I end up poking myself in the eye."

"Why do you need to wear eyeliner?"

"Why not? It looks cool."

"I suppose..."

"Have you seen a gig before? Wait–Don't answer that because I'm sure I already know the answer."

"Will there be tons of people there?" I wondered.

"About 5 drunks." Eddie laughed. "Don't worry. I invited a few friends. You might know them."

"I think this is a bad idea."

"Stop worrying. You'll be fine. Think about having fun, not being caught. This won't be anything like that stupid party you went to."

"I'm really nervous."

"I have an idea. Something that might help you feel less nervous." Eddie smirked.

"If you're about to ask me to smoke marijuana with you–" I started.

"Eden, I will never ask you to smoke or do anything with me. You won't ever have to worry about that. I was just going to suggest a slight makeover, so you actually look like you fit in. Do you always dress like you're going to church?" Eddie laughed.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing now?"

"Nothing, it looks very cute on you," Eddie said, "But one of my band's tees will look even better."
