Therapy.
"Why did you leave town randomly." "I just needed to leave."
I lied and she nodded before sighing and putting down her note pad. "After almost ten years of talking to me you still feel the need to lie?"
"—"
—"Because if that's the case I can easy refer you to someone else." She said sternly making me laugh and roll my eyes
"Is that a threat Ashley?" "It's a promise."
We sat in silence for a few minutes, we were both stubborn. I sighed, "Me and Jade kissed."
"Oh wow." She said acknowledging what I just said, "I.. I felt bad."
"Why?" She questioned "Because I cheated on Marcus."
"Shaniyah"—
"Don't say it's not cheating because he's dead because it is. I made a vow to him."
"I wasn't going to say that." "We shared that intimate kiss, I cried and ran away."
"Did you feel something?" "Yeah.. I felt in love with him all over again."
"How did that make you feel?"
"I felt ashamed after all he's done and I let myself fall for him again? I kissed him again. When I met Marcus I realised how much wrong we both did and I realised that I was a monster whenever I was around Jade or whenever I was in love with him." I explained looking downwards
When me and Jade were together we ruined everyone in our paths including ourselves and our kids. We've not only broke each other but our kids and so much other people. I don't want to be that broken girl again. I don't want to hurt anyone again.
"Do you think it's possible for you and Jade to love one an other without it being toxic? You two haven't been together in years. You met Marcus and he taught you how to love in a healthy way and showed you how it felt to truly be loved and for Jade I'm sure he's met women that could've teach him the same lesson. You two aren't who you were twenty years ago Shaniyah."
"Maybe but if we make it work then..." "Then what?"
"Then that shows that I didn't love Marcus a-and if that's true then I don't know how I'll be able to live the rest of my life."
