"I'm sorry." I said out loud randomly making him look up at me confused, "For what?" He questioned
"For leaving, for hurting you and your brother, for pretending to not understand why you were upset with me when it was so clear. I'm sorry that I let you down. I love you with every single bone inside of my body and I've been trying to show you that."
Acknowledging and taking accountability for my wrongdoings whilst I was raising them is the first step to forgiveness. I failed them and no matter how much I change or try to go around it. It happened and just because I want to move on doesn't mean they're ready. I'm willing to wait as long as they need.
I'm not falling them again.
"Mom I forgave you a long time ago." "But you seem so angry."
"I'm just.. a little lost? I've missed years of my kid's life and I don't know what I'm doing anymore." He expressed
"Life gets like that jake. You don't have to live it perfectly and even if you wanted to there's no way to be a perfect person. You're doing an amazing job with Jace and you're trying your best to get back on track. Life doesn't have a specific time when things get better. You just have to have hope that it will."
"I hate living like this."
"I do too but one day you'll wake up and it'll make sense but until then you just have to have hope," I said giving him the best advice I could.
"I wish things were easier."
"Me too but if things weren't such a challenge we wouldn't appreciate them as much as we do."
"You're right." "I always am." I joked making us both laugh
"Don't put too much over your shoulders." "What does that even mean?"
"It means stop giving yourself such a hard time moron," I said hugging him
"See you later."
"Where are you going?" "A date with my daughter."
"Tell me how it goes!" He shouted after me "Will do!" I shouted back at him
