He smiled as he looked up at her. He didn't even look like himself anymore. He looked like a shell of who he used to be and that broke her.
Why did it have to be him? He was kind, gentle and loving. He loved her, their kids and most of all God with his entire heart yet God had forsaken him.
Why? Why wouldn't it have happened to somebody more deserving of an ending this quick and painful!
"Stop that." "I'm no"—
"God hasn't forsaken me. He's made me see what I was put on this earth for. Our time together wasn't enough but he gave me you, my kids and I'm grateful for that. Before you I was so lost and so angry at the word. My last few years in this earth hasn't been smooth sailing or easy but I had you and that was enough."
How could he still be this this strong?
"I love you and I'm glad I'm dying loving you." "I-I'm not ready."
"I know."
It wasn't long after that.
Her heart felt like it stopped the day Marcus took his last breath, she was never the same again.

"She's always so angry but I guess lately she's been trying to be better for us." She added
"I know, I'm glad." He said with a small smile "Do you ever miss her.. us?"
"Every single day. I miss you all." "I'm sorry that I've let you down."
"Why do you think that you've let me down?" "Don't know." She said with a shrug
"Well you haven't. You've been angry rightfully so and made some mistakes but that's what life is about. I wish that I could do more but I can't. I wish that I was able to give you a hug and tell your that no matter what I'll always be proud of you because blood or not you're my daughter. Mine and I know your heart."
