Chapter 18: We Didn't Forget About You
Their footsteps echoed in the empty hallways. Going to UA for a whole week sounded impossible for Zero, yet here he is. Following him was Bakugou and Toga, while Aizawa led the way to the cafeteria. Because of the Villain Rehab Program a hero must be present with the three of them at all times.
Toga turned her head, meeting the eye of another student. They quickly glanced away.
Before allowing the three to attend UA, Nezu asked the public for a press conference and when Nezu talked about the Rehab, everyone rioted. Although, he did convince most of the public with the now famous speech; "Some children are led down the wrong path by many reasons... Society breaks them and three cases apply to these three children. One is banished as a villain in other's eyes because of their quirk, while the pressure is building on one because of their family name, and the last is labeled as a waste of space. All I want is to give them a chance. One more chance in life."
Aizawa turned his head to the few, "Behave, Midnight will walk you problem children back to class."
"Of course, we'll be good," Toga giggled, raising her hands into the air. The sleeves of her shirt cascaded down to her elbows, the white bracelets shimmering on her arm. Once Aizawa was out of view she stopped laughing, "we doing the hangout today?"
Zero crossed his arms against his chest, "Aizawa gave us a lot of homework today. Maybe tomorrow?"
She grinned, glaring at Zero's fingers tapping against his arm. She knew it too well. Morse Code. She tried her best to pay attention to what letters he was drumming. The first word must be 'plan' the other, 'explain' and the letters 'T' and 'S'.
So he'll explain the plan to Todoroki Shoto?
"Hey, Bakugou," Zero called while running his hand through his many bracelets. "You should just hand me the key."
"What do you mean?"
He leaned into him, cupping his hand over Bakugou's ear, "Don't play dumb. I know that you stole Ass Might's key that opens our bracelets."
Bakugou shivered slightly, "What are you going to do with it..?"
"I'd love for you to watch the show I prepared for you, darling." Zero leaned out and extended his hand to Bakugou, the silver key was hesitantly placed in his hand by hands that were bright red.
Out of nowhere, the peppermint appeared. "Hello."
"Hey Sho-Sho!"
Todoroki stared at Zero before taking a quick breath.
Zero gave him a small grin, "Me and Todoroki are gunna get something off our chests, do whatever."
-
The room they entered was littered with silver lockers and very, very quiet. "Mind telling me why you wanted to do some quirk training?" Todoroki asked breaking the silence while opening his locker.
Zero tugged off his shirt, "I choose to do most things on a gut instinct."
He turned to face Zero, "No wonder you were the number one wanted villain in Japan." He glanced at Zero's bare chest and the scars that littered it.
"Your just being mean now," Zero puffed.
He gritted his teeth together, "I'm mad because I'm the only one in the dark. Just explain the plan to me right now. How are we torturing the flaming bastard?"
"First take off your shirt," Zero smirked, closing in on Todoroki.
"Wha- What.?"
"Take," He grabbed the collar of Todoroki's uniform, "your shirt off."
"I'm not gay."
Zero blinked. He stared at him like a deer mesmerized by headlights, "what the actual fuck?"
"Hey, I should be saying that. Your asking me strip out of nowhere."
"What the fuck are you talking about? You are so gay and I like Bakugou and your lying to yourself and this is apart of the plan! I need to see the scars Endeavor gave you from training."
Todoroki was reluctant, yet lifted his shirt up. Zero lifted his hand to slowly peal the bandages off.
His eyes widened and his stomach fell. He felt sick. The ocean of burns were fresh. Crowds of scars revealed a story. Purple bruises mobbed his snow skin.
"When was the last time he did this.?"
Todoroki's nails dug into his palm and he whispered a response, "A few days ago."
He met eyes with Zero's, his filled with empathy. He could remember that his mother would look at him the same way. Why did he—
"Do you trust me?" Zero asked, his hand extended for Todoroki.
His chest tightened and his head began to spin. The silver lockers began to dance behind Zero. His mind raced to Endeavor reminding him, "Shoto, don't get to close to that villain. A villain is always a villain. Zero will always be a piece of trash."
He linked their palms together. "I will never listen to that man again. I trust that you'll help me."
He sighed in relief, "Now, how are your acting skills?"
