I woke up to the sound of an alarm clock blasting. I groggily opened my eyes and slammed my hand down on the clock to stop the alarm, only to find that it wasn't in its usual spot. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, forgetting where I was, and grabbed my glasses off of the nightstand. That's when it hit me.

"Dustin! Wake up! Dustin!" I whisper-yelled into his ear. I had snuck out to Dustin's house that night because I had a nightmare and wanted his comfort. Ordinarily, I would have woken up Steve and we would've watched movies until we fell asleep on the couch, but Steve had picked up the graveyard shift at Family Video. So, Dustin was there for me. We stayed up late eating junk food, reading books, and cuddling, before eventually falling asleep in each other's arms.

"Sweets, shh," Dustin groggily mumbled.

"Dustin," I shook him awake, "Dustin, get up!" Dustin rolled over and squinted at me with sleepy eyes for a moment. I saw the look in his eyes the instant that he realized the situation we were in.

"Shit," He muttered, "Shit! Shit! Shit!" Dustin quickly hopped out of bed and dashed around his room, helping me grab the few things I had brought with me.

"What's going on in there? You're gonna be late!" Ms. Henderson shouted, beginning to pull the door open.

"Don't come in! I'm naked!" Dustin lied. I had just finished putting on my shoes and was about to slip out of Dustin's window when he stopped me.

"I love you," He told me.

"I love you too," I kissed him on the cheek before I stepped out of the window. I grabbed my bike, which I had left on the side of Dustin's house, and hopped on. I sped down the street in the pajamas, praying that I made it back home before Steve caught me. As I rode down the street, I kept glancing over my shoulder. Starting about a week before that day, I had felt like I was being watched. I never really paid attention to that feeling when I was with others. But, when I was alone, I always kept one eye open.

I reached my house and tossed my bike in the garage. I hopped the fence into my backyard and examined my surroundings. When I snuck out the night prior, I hadn't thought about how I would get back into my room. My bedroom was on the second story, so sneaking out was a lot easier than sneaking in. I spotted a ladder sitting next to our pool that was tall enough to get me onto the small roof bit separating the first and second floors. I propped up the ladder, climbed up, and slipped into my room.

I let out a sigh of relief as I sat down on my bed. I made it, and I didn't get caught. Then, I heard a knock at my door.

"Y/n, come on! You in there?" Steve asked from the other side.

"Yeah! Gimme a minute," I shouted as I sprang up from my bed. I quickly changed out of my pajamas and put on some mom jeans, my Hellfire Club t-shirt, and a trucker hat I stole from Dustin. I brushed my teeth and my hair as quickly as possible, then put on some deodorant as a substitute for my usual morning shower. I ran out of my bedroom door, then quickly turned back when I realized I had forgotten my backpack. I snatched my bag and then ran down the stairs to meet Steve.

"Come on, let's go!" Steve ordered, shaking his car keys around.

"Your shift ended at like three in the morning. Should you really be driving?" I questioned.

"Well, you snuck out in the middle of the night to see your boyfriend. Should you really be biking?" Steve sassed.

"How did you-"

"Come on!" Steve headed out the front door and I quickly scuttled behind. I went to open the passenger seat, but Steve stopped me.

"We need to pick up Robin too," Steve informed me. I sighed and slipped into the back seat for Robin's sake. I pulled my walkman out of my bag and turned on an Iron Maiden album. Eddie had loaned me the album because he insisted that heavy metal was the greatest music genre of all time. I stared out my window the entire time, listening to my music, only taking my headphones off to say a quick hello to Robin when she got in the car.
