"So what was going on in there?" Andy smirked and asked Maya as everyone started to put their coat on, in anticipation of leaving soon.
Maya dismissed Andy's question as she rolled her eyes, not paying enough attention to what her sister had asked; her eyes were focused on just one person.
"You're coming home with us, right?" Amelia asked Carina, as Maya stood behind them.
"No." Carina said with a slight smirk. "I'm going home with Maya." She added, shocking everyone around her, including Maya.
"You are?" Maya asked as she swallowed hard, not that she minded, she'd do anything to have Carina around, it was all just new to her.
"Si, you said I could visit Vic tomorrow, it would be easier no, if we leave together?" Carina said and asked, making everyone in the group smirk.
"Ya that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it." Maya said with a bit more confidence reflecting in her voice. "We'll drop Andy to her house first. Is that okay?" Maya asked Carina softly as they all walked out.
"Of course, bella."
*********
"You want some wine? You want to watch a movie? You just wanna head to bed or maybe-" Maya started rambling as they stood in her living room but was interrupted with a soft peck on her lips.
"Shh. Just kiss me." Carina whispered and brought their lips back together. However, there was a nervousness that she could sense in the way that Maya was behaving, making her pause her movements.
"Are you-are you okay? If you're not comfortable I can leave." Carina said nervously, also with a bit of disappointment in her voice.
"No, Car. It's not that." Maya sighed.
"Then what is it, Maya?"
"It's just that- seeing Aldo at the bar made my blood boil. The way he spoke to you, the way he was treating you. I wanted to do much more than to just throw a punch at him." Maya said honestly.
Carina just had her head down, looking at the floor.
"And I know that maybe I don't get to say these things cause he is your husband. But it would kill me if I didn't ask...has he- has he ever done something in the past two weeks, i don't know like, were you safe there?" Maya asked hesitantly.
"I was. Weirdly enough. He was just- distant. Like we only spoke once or twice in the whole day. And it's always been like that. Since we got married, he's always been this distant man who speaks to me when he feels like it. He never respected me enough and....why are you looking at me like that?" Carina stopped talking when she spotted Maya looking at her with her eyes wide open and her mouth dropped.
"You- you just remembered all of that." Maya said with a smile this time.
Carina then realised what was happening, she had just spoken about her married life of four years with no hesitation. "Oh my god, I did. I did right? That was what it was, I-I remember, right?" Carina asked with tears in her eyes. And maya nodded back, hugging her immediately.
"oh my god." Maya mumbled, her head was practically smushed into Carina's shoulder, as they both held on to each other.
"Are you feeling okay?" Maya looked at Carina again and asked, making sure she was not overwhelmed with anything.
"I'm - i'm fine. Can we go to Amelia and Jo's?" Carina asked abruptly
"Uh ya, but are you okay?" Maya asked back
"Yeah, it's not like I don't wanna be here, I just- I just feel the need to apologise to them. They deserve an apology from me." Carina said, getting slightly worked up.
