Third Person's POV:

As the sun shines upon Aball, Everyone is waking up and does their everyday chores in the village except Brendan who is out in the forest training. But just like him, Velvet, and Laphicet, Everyone else was aware that this day was not like any other day. It was the day of the Scarlet Night when the brigands attacked and some became daemons. It was also the day when Celica and her unborn son lost their lives. Everyone in the town hoped that the village wouldn't get attacked but unknown to them, This is when the world itself would change.

Laphicet's POV:

As I tried not to wake up Velvet, I started to look into my journal. "The Day before Scarlet Night. Sis went hunting for prickleboars with Brendan. They're almost as good as Arthur when it comes to fighting, so I knew those prickleboars don't stand a chance." I said, quietly. "But I worry that Velvet is too athletic and won't be able to land a husband. Maybe she should be more ladylike." I said, quietly as I flipped to a blank page and began to write.

"Day of Scarlet Night. Brendan went out to the forest for training. Even though he is blind, Arthur has taught him and Velvet a lot of cool things. Both Velvet and him have done a lot for me." I thought, writing in my journal. "I think the best person who could be her husband is Brendan." I thought. "As for Brendan, I wish that he could see again. If only there was a way to cure someone who was blinded by a spitting cobra's venom." I thought, as I closed my journal. "Right. I better give Brendan back his favorite book." I said, as I quickly went to my room to get it. "Ha! There it is!" I said, as I grabbed it and quietly went to the door. "Oh wait, I should get that too." I thought.

Meanwhile in the Forest

Brendan's POV:

"Wolf Thrust!" I shouted, as I destroyed a big rock. "I did it." I said, as I went to find my journal. "At least I can use braille. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to read and write." I thought, as I sat down. "The day before Arthur left, He and I did combat training. I was able to disarm him with my staff. He also asked me the question 'Why do you think the snake blinded you?' I replied by saying 'To protect itself.' but I felt like there was more to that question though." I said, as I wrote it on a blank page. "If I was able to disarm Arthur, I'll be able to protect Velvet-" I said, then I heard rustling. "Uh oh." I thought, as I got my staff and got up.

"Who's there?!" I shouted, as the rustling got louder. "It's only me, Brendan!" Someone shouted, as I recognized it. "L-Laphicet?!" I shouted. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "P..please. Don't tell Velvet! I came to return your book." He replied, as I took and felt the cover. "This one is the Unknown Hero and the Sixth Empyrean." I said. "Yeah. I was finished with it so I wanted to give it back to you." Laphicet replied. "How long did you have that book?" He asked. "When I was five I think." I replied, then I noticed something on the cover and it felt dusty. "And there's a lot of dust." I said, blowing on it. "Wait, This isn't the real reason, isn't it?" I asked. "No. I need to ask a favor." He replied.

An Hour Later

Velvet's POV:

As I got up, I got ready to cook for Laphi. "Ok, Let's see. Today I've got to dry some meat and use that cheese I've been saving to make a quiche for-" I said. then I realized Laphi is gone. "Huh? Laphi?" I said, as I looked around for him but he wasn't in the house. "You little... Where have you gone?!" I said, as I went outside. "You better not have gone to the village alone! Aah! I bet your fever hasn't even gone down!" I said, as I headed into the village. "Where is he?" I thought, as I spotted the shopkeeper.
