After her interaction with Penelope, Josie quickly rejoined Hope at the other end of the hallway.

"What did the she-devil want?" Hope asked.

"She just asked if I wanted to hang out with her some time."

Hope's eyes flashed gold again.

"And what did you say?" she was quick to ask.

"I told her no. She's hurt me too much in the past for me to spend time with her again, romantic or not."

Hope let out a sigh of relief, but Josie could tell she was still tense.

"You need to relax a little," Josie told her.

"I do not," Hope got a little defensive.

"Yes, you do. Yours eyes flashed a couple times and look," Josie unballed Hope's fists, revealing indents in her palms that were slightly bleeding from her nails.

Josie got a first aid kit and started cleaning Hope's palms. When she had finished with Hope's one hand, she turned it over and kissed the top of it. She did the same for her other hand.

"There," Josie smiled contently. "Are you all calm now, or do I need to give you a massage or something?"

"A massage might help," Hope's voice was small and unsure.

"Oh, sure," Josie wasn't expecting Hope to take her up on her offer. "We have like an hour before class if you want to go back to my dorm."

"Actually, could we go to mine? I don't want to bother Lizzie, and I think I'll have an easier time relaxing in my own room."

Josie nodded her head and they both went off to Hope's dorm.

Hope sat on her bed, and Josie sat behind her.

"This might be easier if you took your shirt off," Josie suggested.

Hope paused for a moment, then nodded her head and took off her shirt.

Josie felt the heat rush to her cheeks when she Hope's black lace bralette and her toned back. All that training must have paid off.

"Jo, is everything okay?"

"Huh," Josie snapped out of it. "Yeah, why wouldn't it be?"

"Because we've been sitting here like this for a few minutes now and I have yet to receive my promised massage."

"Right, sorry, I was just looking at your birthmark," Josie came up with.

Shaking, Josie placed her hands on Hope's shoulders, gently massaging the area.

"It's a werewolf thing, the Crescent Wolfpack," Hope explained. "It has something to do with my mom's birth family. She had no idea until my dad told her about it."

Josie continued with her hands, this time applying more pressure.

"That feels really good, Josie," Hope basically moaned.

Josie smirked slightly, feeling Hope melt into her touch.

"Speaking of your dad, how did your talk with him go?"

"Um, it, uh," her words got stuck in her throat.

"That good, huh?"

"It was difficult," Hope finally got out. "All these years, I hated my dad for leaving. I thought it was my fault, he didn't care about me, that maybe I was a mistake-"

"You're not a mistake," Josie quickly interjected. "No one is a mistake."

She felt she had to make sure Hope knew that. Because outside of Josie's family, Hope was the single most important person in her life.

Hope quietly accepted.

"It turns out, he didn't want to turn out like his dad."

Josie raised a questioning brow.

"His dad was really abusive, he used to beat my father," Hope explained.

Josie took in this information. She couldn't imagine Klaus Mikaelson, the Original Hybrid, being helpless and at the mercy of his father.

"He left because he loves me so much, and I want to forgive him, Josie," Hope's voice began to falter. "But I still hate what he did. I'm starting to understand why, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive him. The pain I went through..."

Hope was now in tears, sobbing to her best friend who had her arms wrapped around her waist, comforting her.

"Shhh, it's okay, Hope," Josie cooed. "I'm here for you."
