"I knew your mom was the alpha of the Crescent Wolf Pack and a vampire, but you never told me your dad was the Original Hybrid, Klaus Mikaelson!"

"Mhm," Hope confirmed. "And my grandmother was a witch, making me a hybrid of three creatures."

Josie was stunned to learn that Hope Marshall was actually Hope Mikaelson, descended from the most powerful family to ever exist, and the one and only Tribrid.

"I always knew you were one of a kind," Josie stated in a way that could have been interpreted as flirtatious.

"I guess you could say that," Hope smiled back, but Josie could tell it was forced.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked softly.

"Does this change how you feel about me?" Hope's voice was timid, like she was afraid of the answer.

"What? You being able to kick anyone's ass? I think that's awesome."

"That, and about me being a Mikaelson?" she lowered her eyes. "I mean, my family has done some pretty awful things."

"Listen to me," Josie took both of Hope's hands into her own. "We're our own people. We get to decide what path we take in life. You come from an extremely powerful family, and I don't want you to ever be ashamed of that."

"Thank you. You're the first person I've ever told. I've been too scared to open up to people, but I feel so comfortable with you, Jo," Hope brushed back a piece of Josie's hair.

The two stared into each other's twinkling eyes for a brief moment before they heard footsteps approaching. Their eyes darted to the door.

"You need to go, Love." Hope spoke softly. "My mom's coming."

Josie ignored the goosebumps she got from Hope's nickname for her and got ready to return to the Salvatore School. With a small hug and exchange of smiles, Josie vanished.

"Hope, can I come in?" her mother was at her door.

"Uh, yeah."

"Do you have someone over?" Hayley questioned and looked around. "I thought I heard someone else's voice."

"Nope, just me," Hope answered.

"Alright, you better be telling the truth, otherwise I'm going to have to rethink my decision to unground you," her mom announced.

"Wait, really?"

"Your father and I spoke," she confirmed. "And we decided that you did this to protect your friend. We just ask that next time you do something less dangerous and against school rules. Maybe tell a teacher or something. I mean, her father is the headmaster."

"Alright, deal," Hope agreed.

Hayley and Hope hugged now that they had resolved their issues.

"Are you feeling, okay, honey?" Hayley stopped in the doorway just as she was leaving. "You seem a little flushed."

"I'm fine, mom," Hope's face grew even redder.
