"You look absolutely stunning," Hope gushed when Josie walked in the room.
She was wearing a flowing, light pink dress and her hair was down.
"You're staring," Josie blushed.
"Sorry, I um, I have something for you," Hope was clearly enamored. "Close your eyes."
Hope pulled out a small black box and opened it to reveal a silver pendant.
Josie got goosebumps when she felt Hope's hands on the back of her neck, pushing her hair to the side.
Hope carefully put the chain around Josie's neck and closed the clasp.
"Okay, you can open them."
"It's beautiful," Josie looked at it in the mirror. "Thank you," Josie kissed her sweetly.
They stood there for a moment, staring in the mirror at their reflections. Hope's arms wrapped around Josie's waist and her head nuzzled into Josie's neck. Josie's hands gently placed over Hope's.
They both silently wondered how they got to this beautiful moment.
A moment that was cut short by the entrance of Raf and Lizzie.
"Tick tock," Lizzie tapped on her watch dramatically. "We need to go now or else we'll be late."
Josie pecked Hope's lips one last time before they headed to the limo.
Of course, Hope held the door open for Josie.
As a feminist, normally Josie would have something to say about chivalry really being misogyny in disguise, but she couldn't bring herself to protest when Hope was the one doing the door holding.
Plus, Josie figured Hope being a girl and all, and them being girlfriends was enough of a win against the patriarchy for one night.
They arrived at the venue, a large castle with a picturesque pond out front.
After loads of photos, they walked in to find a sea of teens dancing.
Hope's not one to dance, she always finds it much too embarrassing, but she did that night because when she's with Josie, it feels like they're the only two in the room.
Aside from grabbing some of the food that's being served, she and Josie didn't leave the dance floor the whole night.
They finished off with a slow dance. Josie rested her hands on Hope's shoulders, and Hope's hands found their place on Josie's waist.
They swayed side to side, their bodies so close, their position so intimate. Josie rested her head on the shorter girl's shoulder, and out of the corner of her eye she could see Lizzie and Raf dancing to the soft music.
Hope could feel the smile that came across Josie's face at the sight, and pulled her in closer, unable to contain her own small smile.
The song ended, and the two stood still for a long moment, reveling in their closeness.
"I want you to come back to my room," Hope whispered into Josie's ear. "So I can give you all of me."
Josie lifted her head off of Hope to look her in the eyes. Hope could hear Josie's heart beating rapidly in her chest.
"Hope, are you saying...?" Josie questioned.
"Yes," Hope confirmed. "I'm ready. Are you?"
Josie bit her lip and nodded her head before Hope took her hand and led her away.
