♫ And I need you to know that we're falling so fast
We're falling like the stars ♫Abby Hewitt POV
Today was something else. Watching the race personally scared me, he was putting himself in danger for hours every weekend. I know people can die here, I know this is what he loves but I couldn't help but think about the worse. When it ended and Lewis got first everyone started celebrating and I felt the whole energy of the team. They quickly went to congratulate him but I was completely lost.
"You don't look like yourself today" Angela says meeting me while the podium was getting prepared.
"All of this scared me. What if something happens to him? Will I just watch him die or get badly hurt? Me and millions of people?" I ask and she nods.
"I- We all have those thoughts, bad things can happen but these people are professionals in this. They know what they are doing, Lewis knows what he is doing and he isn't immortal but he is good and I will keep believing nothing will ever happen" She says and I tried to calmly listen to it.
"I'm sorry, I should be more supportive but it's just so scary. I'm impressed, he has amazing control of the car and all of that, what he does is impressive but I don't want to lose him. I like Lewis, I like having him around and I like having someone to share life with. I don't him to feel the bad energy" I say and she laughs.
"You are falling in love, it's normal you fear for his safety but right now he would like you to be in the front row, he doesn't want to see his engineers or team principal, he wants his beautiful wife there" She says and I give her a smile while he entered the podium with Max and Carlos.
When it ended I went to hospitality and got a Coca-Cola, I choose one of the tables close to the window so I could watch the paddock, I was bored. Lewis almost scared the hell out of me but it was way better to look at him than to look at the paddock, so is pretty ironic he asked how the view was. He came back after a few minutes with a new set of clothes. As he was almost getting to the table, a woman puts herself in front of me, she was almost sitting on my lap.
"Lewis, I haven't seen you in a long time" She says hugging him and he looked at me showing me his hands that were definitely not hugging her back.
"I can't talk right not Olivia. I'm busy" He says and she finally looks back and is surprised to see me.
"I'm Olivia, I was in Mercedes for a few years" She says stretching her hand for me to shake.
"I'm Abby" I say shaking her hand and since she was distracted, Lewis takes the chance to sit by my side.
"And what are you and Lewis doing together?" She asks curiously and I shrug.
"She is my wife Olivia" Lewis says and I try not to laugh. People's faces when they hear it are always pretty similar, pure shock and surprise.
"Wife? I don't remember seeing anything about you dating" She says clearly curious.
"I'm not one to kiss and tell" Lewis says resting his arm around my shoulders and she nods.
"I will leave so the happy couple can have some alone time. I just wanted to tell you the race was amazing, I missed seeing this" She says before leaving and I take a deep breath.
"She was nice" I say as he nods.
"You are way nicer. Is everything okay? Don't you like being here? On the paddock and all that" He asks sounding concerned and looking me in the eyes.
"I liked it. All the energy and celebrations are awesome" I say and he stays quiet.
"But?" He asks and I let out a laugh. I tried.
"I'm scared. I'm scared you might get hurt or of what could happen. I felt my heart was going to come out of my mouth for what felt like too many hours" I say and he smiles hugging me.
"Well, nothing has happened and nothing will happen. But, this is what I love, I would proudly and happily die doing what I love. I will do everything so it doesn't happen" He says and I nod.
"Don't die and don't get hurt. I will be mad if you do any of those" I say while we both laugh.
"So, can I buy my beautiful wife dinner?" He asks as we both get up.
"You can indeed. And I promise I will try to get to the first row when you win" I say and I think that got to him because his smile grew even bigger.
"I would appreciate that, I really would" He says and I smile while we walked through the paddock while taking pictures with fans and doing some autographs. I kept my distance until I see a mom trying to run to Lewis as her daughter was way behind.
"Is everything okay?" I ask as she stopped a few steps from me.
"It is, my daughter just really loves him since I can remember and we have been looking for him all weekend" She says and I give her the water bottle I had.
"Take it, it's unopened. Give me a few seconds" I say and walk to Lewis, tapping his shoulder and he looks curiously at me.
"Is everything alright?" He asks and I nod.
"Can you just talk to that mom? Her daughter likes you since she can remember and they have been looking all weekend for you. She ran a lot from what I can see" I say and he quickly comes with me.
"Mom, it's okay. We can try again at another time" The girl says, she was probably 14.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't see you coming, I would wait a bit longer if I saw you" Lewis says and both look at him like God had just come down to earth.
"Oh My God. It's really Lewis Hamilton" The girl says in complete shock. Lewis opens his arms as she hugs him.
"Thank you for being a fan, it means a lot to me" He says as they talked for a few minutes, a lot of tears were shed by the girl and her mother who were more than appreciative. He took a lot of pictures, a video and autographed every merch they had.
"Thank you so much" The mom says as I got closer.
"You are welcome, I hope to see you again" I say with a huge smile, I think they deserved it.
"You have a lovely girlfriend" The mom says happily.
"Thank you, it was nice to meet you" He says and we start leaving.
"That was nice" I say as he smiles.
"All thanks to you" He says as we get to the car and opens my door for me.
