5: School

The next day was Monday, so Kat was up at five o'clock: she tidied any mess from the previous night; sorted all the washing out; made breakfast and lunch for everyone and even made some bottles for Tyler.
Shane was confused by the noises coming from downstairs so early, and went down to see what was happening. He came down the stairs to see Kat moving about preparing everything for the day ahead. Smiling slightly as he saw that she had made him breakfast and lunch too, Shane made his presence known to the eldest Plummer.

"How come your up so early?" Shane asked moving to her side.
"This is normal time. I wake up before everyone and make sure everything is in order before school. It gets a little hectic around here," She replied smiling at the man beside her. Shane returned the sentiment until he caught the small eye bags under her eyes.
"How long did you sleep?" Shane questioned tilting her face towards him.
"I'm fine. I slept plenty," Kat tried to brush past Shane only to be trapped between his arms and the counter.
"How long did you sleep?" He repeated the question.
"A few hours" Kat muttered. "I was up with Tyler for a while, and I was finishing my final piece for school when I couldn't sleep."
"College?" Kat nodded and sighed tiredly. Shane hugged her and kissed the side of her temple. "Don't exhaust yourself. I care about you, I don't want to see you hurt. Okay?" Shane held the sides of her face gently as they looked in each others eyes. Kat nodded and hugged him tightly before going back to what she was doing, only this time, with Shane's help.

"Okay troops, breakfast!" Shane called upstairs to the other Plummer children. Tyler and Peter were already downstairs and eating with Kat.
"Okay, like I'm really gonna eat all these carbs?" Zoe said eying the dish in front of her. "I've said before that I won't eat this many carbs. God how hard is that for you to understand Kat?" Zoe asked turning to her older sister.
"Zoe!" Shane interrupted, before Kat could say anything. "Eat the food" he said venomously glaring slightly at the moody teen girl.
"I can cross my eyes" Lulu stated, breaking the tension. "Do you wanna see?"
"No." Lulu proceeded to cross her eyes making Tyler whimper and cry.
"Tyler hates it when I do that," Lulu proudly says.
"I know how he feels," sassed Shane.
Kat picked Tyler up and began to bounce him on her hip while humming a tune to calm him. After his cries were sated she sat back down with him on her lap, when the table cloth was dragged onto the floor along with everything on it.
"Peter!" Yelled Kat. She immediately got up and handed Shane Tyler as she started to clean up the mess that had been made. Ringing of the phone distracted Shane from the view of Kat's butt, so he answered still bouncing the baby in his arms.

"Who was that?" Zoe asked from her seat at the dining table.
"Your Vice Principal. He said that if you and Seth are late again then you'll both be suspended. He wants to see you in his office right away," Shane answered tickling Tyler's belly.
"We better get going then," said Kat standing up from the floor bringing all the dirty dishes to the sink for washing up later. "Seth, go get Peter." Seth grumbled but did as his sister said. "Zoe, put the table cloth in the laundry basket upstairs." Zoe scoffed and stormed upstairs with the cloth trailing behind her. "Lulu, make sure you have everything. I don't want you complaining halfway there that you've forgotten something." Lulu smiled and nodded before running off. "Shane," Kat turned to look at the male beside her. "If you grab the baby bag, everything is already in there except some bottles for Tyler and snacks for Peter, which are in the fridge." Shane nodded and got the things Kat had listed.
