The Parting Glass

"I've lived enough to become the villain in your eyes
I know I've caused you the pain and your demise
And if I can just redo it one more time
But my pride can't let this thing go one last time"

Wilbur stood in front of the people of the Essempi, his coat abandoned. After everything that has happened, he had decided to leave. Start a new life somewhere. Maybe that'll help him...and everyone around him.

Phil, Tommy, and Tubbo stood before the crowd.

His father, his right-hand man, and his spy.

He didn't tell anyone that he was leaving beforehand. No, all he did was tell them to meet him at the edge of the Essempi. They'll learn soon enough.

"I always knew that I've been doomed to fall
Within the walls I built, I may have stood too tall
And I'm tired to crawl, so hear me one more time
Can you pick me up again just one last time?"

He looked into his father's eyes as he said his speech. In truth, he was the one that suggested this. Move away from the scars, both mental and physical. While he could never change the past, he can at least help his future.

Looking through the crowd, he saw many familiar faces.

Niki.

Jack.

Eret.

Their faces held no emotion. No glee. No sorrow. Nothing.

Kind of reminded him of Techno. He never was one to show emotion, but it didn't mean he didn't feel. Didn't love. Didn't care.

"I just have to clean up all the mess I made
I just have to try to write again thе story
And for sure I'll be remеmbered for what's good and only good
So fill to me the parting glass
Goodbye and joy be with you all"

Tommy's eyes widened once he realized what Wilbur was saying.

Oh, Tommy...

He remembered when he first met the boy. He was young, maybe seven or eight, and was wandering the world alone with his friend, Tubbo. Not long after Wilbur took them under his wing, he decided to make the drug van, and eventually L'manburg.

Tommy should hate him for all that he put the kid through. Despise him, even.

Yet, he didn't. He was scared, terrified even, when Wilbur was first revived, yes, but he never could hate the man that he saw as a mentor. A brother.

Even now, he trusted Wilbur more than anyone else.

"You might think this is the best escape
I'd die a million times and live the same fate
There is nothing else to do with wasting time
Can we raise my final glass for one last time?"

He looked at Tubbo, and frowned. The kid had grown a lot through the years. Even now, he looked much older than eighteen.

Wilbur felt guilty for Tubbo's facial scar. While he wasn't the one to pull the trigger, he was technically the cause of it. He was the one that used the boy, who was only thirteen at the time, as a child spy. He was the one that got careless. He was the one who stood back and watched.
