~PROLOGUE~

It was a very cold December night. The bustling town of Magnolia, Fiore, is now a seeminly empty ghost town in the Dusk's freezing winter breeze. And seemingly, not a soul was out wandering in the darkness. Or was there? Down the Main Street road leading to the Fairy Tail Guild Hall, there was a young woman who was running on her way to her dorm. Her name, as everyone knew, was Levy McGarden. Down the Fairy Path, she was hurriedly heading for Fairy Hills, which was the name of the Dorm Building. Upon arrival, she went inside and quicky walked to her room without glancing or talking to any of the other girls who had tried to say hello to her as she sped by.

She unlocked her door, opened it, and shut it behind her. After doing so, she leaned her back against the door. Shighing with relief, she pulled something out of the bag she had been carrying with her. It was a rectangular gift box. She held it to herself with a happy blush on her face. She set it on her desk, and looked around her room. The room is like a whole Library within it. Many books on the shelves. There were books on just about every genre you can imagine! Even books that are "naughty". Levy was a huge bookworm, and enjoyed reading. She loved books on Spells, Forbidden Magic, and even Romance. She also enjoyed letting other girls living in Fairy Hills borrow books, too. Because everyone there enjoyed to visit Levy and borrow a book from time to time.

She sat down at her desk and stared at the yellow box with a red velvet ribbon enclosing it. Thinking constantly, I wonder what's inside... What did he give me? Then, taking a deep breath, she untied the beautiful red ribbon from the top, and opened the top of the shiny yellow gift box. Inside, there was a glimmering blue book that had "My Diary" on the cover. Levy didn't understand at first, but when she picked the book up, there was a note under it. She began to read it.

Hey there, Shorty. Happy Birthday. I wanted to get ya a gift because, well, I wanted to thank you for everything you done for me. Thanks for helping me learn to read and write. Metallicana coulda never helped me do that when i was a kid. And I care a lot about ya, so i got this for ya. Thanks for bein' the best.
~Gajeel~

She could not believe it. She was surprised enough when Gajeel gave her the gift at the guild earler that day. He didn't want her to open it until she got back home. Was he too embarrassed about it? Levy didn't know. But she was very happy. "I guess I could write in this everyday," she told herself "Until i complete every last page!" Levy noticed that every single page was numbered. And she turned to the back. The dairy contained 100 pages. "Small, but it's fine. I don't need to document my life that much anyway. It isn't like my life is that interesting, anyway." She sighed. "Actually, since today is my birthday, I might as well write in it today. It would make Gajeel happy." And she flipped back to Page 1, took a deep breath, and began to write.
