"(Y/N), didn't you want to redecorate the bedroom?" I asked.

"Bedroom? (Y/N), you aren't sleeping with him?" Lady (L/N) asked looking mortified.

Rather than paying attention to Lady (L/N), my gaze was drawn to Caleb Louis. He had pure jealousy in his eyes and his fists clenched. He put on a wide, fake smile and cocked his head.

"You know, I bet you could hear his joints creaking," Caleb said finally.

Lady (L/N) and (Y/N)'s faces turned bright red at the comment and Lord (L/N) fixed his tie.

"At least I have the decency to hold my tongue around a lady," I said, wrapping my arms around (Y/N) from behind and resting my chin on her shoulder. I grinned and he glared. She put her hands on my arms and I felt her relax. She actually likes behind hugged like this. I'll have to keep that in mind.

"So you aren't sleeping with him, right, (Y/N)?" Lady (L/N) asked pleadingly.

"No, Mother," (Y/N) said.

"Why would you settle for a freak like him?" Caleb asked, "He hardly looks like he cares for the hair that he leaves untamed and he acts like a pervert. He's groping you right now and you're too love-blind to notice."

"Are you uncomfortable, darling?" I asked.

"Mm, mm," she hummed, pressing her cheek against mine.

"And I'm not groping her. A hug is far from that. You've probably touched more girls' rears than I've seen dead bodies," I said.

Caleb raised an eyebrow.

"I'm an Undertaker," I added.

His face turned red and rage filled his eyes.

"Are you implying I would ever touch another than (Y/N). I will unashamedly say I've fallen in love with her and I would never lay a hand on another woman, out of respect for both the woman and (Y/N)."

"You speak with the confidence of one who's already won her heart," I said, "That kind of confidence is unearned and foolish. Especially considering I've already claimed her heart."

"How can you even claim to love her? You haven't even proposed. You've given her no real reassurance you'll marry her."

I paused. Would (Y/N) be even happier if I properly proposed. I don't have the funds to buy her a ring at the moment.

"I have his word. His promise means more to me than gold or jewels," (Y/N) said softly, snapping me out of my thoughts, "We've talked more than I've ever been able to with any suitor. About our feelings, about having a family someday. He's the only one with which, there has been feelings to talk about."

"But how do you know it's really him?" Caleb asked, "You can't settle on the first man to make you feel special. For all you know, he's using you and trying to get you into bed. A sober man with wants is far more dangerous than a drunk one."

I felt (Y/N) stiffen and lifted a hand to tuck her hair behind her ear so I could better see her face. Suddenly, she pushed out of my arms and I expected the worst, but instead, she slapped Caleb across the face. I was shocked and then stifled a laugh, which made Lady (L/N) glare.

"Don't even dare speculate that Adrian would hurt me!" (Y/N) cried, "He's done far more for me with hardly any money than any rich man has! He's been honest with everything he wants and everything he feels and he's never taken it to heart when I've refused him anything! In fact, I can't think of a thing he's asked of me! He's given me everything wanting nothing more in return than my love and I couldn't be happier than I am with him!"
