Here I stand in front of another grand ball, held by a nobleman named Chambers. Supposedly, his family was number one in human trafficking, however, he had never been caught for lack of evidence. His home had been searched by Scotland Yard, which turned up nothing. He was good at what he does, but I'd like to think I'm better.

"The Chambers family has been around for quite some time, like the Phantomhive family, however, with the death of the father and grandfather Chambers, their son has taken a liking to the money gained from human trafficking. Scotland Yard specifically asked me to stay off this case, because they want to solve it themselves, even though they're to weak and timid to come to one of Chamber's events, however, a request from the King cannot be denied." Lord Phantomhive explained as I fiddled with my clothes.

The ornately decorated sleeve cuffs of the cost he had lent me were uncomfortably scratchy. A subtle irritation. I sighed and chose to ignore the feeling, looking around at the people here dancing.

"When Lord Chambers invites his close friends away from the party for tea, we will follow," Lord Phantomhive said, "Go around and look like you're enjoying yourself, while I make myself scarce."

"Alright," I said, heading forward and wandering into the sea of people. I opened my to-die list out of curiosity. Three men and one woman would die tonight.

I looked around and noticed a group with two men and one woman talking. At least, based on the shape of their bodies. I refuse to give in and get another pair of glasses though. In any case, the numbers didn't add up. However, as I looked around I saw another man talking to two woman. Now, I wasn't grabbing any random group, but rather, the latter group was engaging in conversation with Lord Chambers. He was just as Lord Phantomhive described: charming and cheerful, but he clearly had an undertone of mischief and proud manipulation.

I watched as one of the women left the conversation with Lord Chambers and then the remaining man and woman and the two men and a woman followed him out of the ballroom. One of those women won't die tonight. I wonder who and why?

I tried to find Lord Phantomhive, but I couldn't catch a glimpse of his blue-black hair. I looked back towards where Chambers had gone and saw that he had returned and Lord Phantomhive was speaking with him. I knew this was an implied opportunity to sneak back toward the room.

As I entered, I heard male and female laughter. As. I entered a large, semi-dark room, only lit by the glow of a few sparse candles, I could make out just barely, what appeared to be cages and people within. I hear now, the soft sounds of crying and whispers to be released. I moved toward a darker corner near one of the cages.

"Stay quiet," I whispered.

"Who are you?" A thickly accented, but very young voice whispered.

These are the missing children.

"I'm going to get you out of here, but you have to stay quiet," I whispered.

I could just make out the little figure nodding their head.

I worked my way back to the door and closed and locked it.

"Oi, who are you?" I male voice shouted.

"A spy," a second said.

I heard the sounds of guns being cocked, but then I heard the children scream. They were going to shoot the children. I made a split second decision and jumped forward, summoning and swinging my scythe with reckless abandon to where on their bodies I hit. I heard cries of pain and bodies falling lifelessly to the floor. I sighed deeply and looked around. With my blurry vision, I noticed a single female still standing, or rather, seated on a couch, well away from my swing.

"Why are you the only one that decided not to draw a weapon?" I asked, standing in front of the caged children.

She started laughing softly, and I raised an eyebrow.

"How nearsighted are you, Adrian?" She asked, laughing harder.

"What? Y/N, what are you doing here? You're going to give yourself another attack!" I said, setting aside my scythe.

"Just help me open the cages and I'll explain," she said, running to the cages and whispering comfortingly to the children, telling them they were alright.

"Why didn't this cause you to have an attack?" I asked.

"Because they're human,* she said, "They're just as weak as I am. And besides that, I told you, I know about Lord Phantomhive's work and I knew he or you would be here. If you didn't come, then I simply would slip out while they were distracted and bring the police."

"But how did you know this would be here?" I asked.
