34. Forbidden Love

The rigid and clenched expressions of Varun Dev began softening and a charming grin was forming on his face as he gazed at Mrityunjay and Umika. They all smiled seeing him as he aggressively rubbed away the tears that were forming in his eyes. After years he gained consciousness and the first faces he saw were of supreme Mother and supreme Father.

'Pranam Dev!' they all greeted him.

'Ka-' he choked on his voice and placed a closed fist on his mouth to control his emotions. The Lord of oceans actually had a complete ocean in his eyes. He gulped the lump formed in his throat and then said 'Kalyan ho!'

For them it was a blessing from a God but for him?.........For him it was a shame, a show of ill-manners and an years long guilt of sins that will settle on him forever. And why not?.......After all who was he to say 'Kalyan ho!' to those from whom the whole Dev-clan has learned to do Kalyan of others. 

But all this that is happening is part of something big. And big things require big contributions, which he and his brothers will willingly give, even if it has to be taking 'paap' on themselves.

He gazed at all four of them silently with affection and pain at the same time. 'Kaise aabhar vyakt karun?' (How should I express my gratitude?) he whispered in a broken tone and they all smiled sadly at him. 

'Apne shubh naamo se parichit karayein.'(Please tell me your good names) he requested all of them and they told him their names. He was glad to know their names.

Then four of them along with Varun Dev came out of the ditch. Again the heat of the dry land was felt by them. Varun Dev gazed at endless deserted land and sighed. 

He lifted his hand and opened his fist. Above his fist danced a ball of water. Varun Dev smiled at it and then smiled at Umika, who was looking at the ball of water with amusement. With his eyes, he gestured her towards the ball of water. Umika lifted her hand and touched it a little to feel it and it was indeed water.

Taking away the water from her Varun Dev looked at barren land again. He closed his eyes and said in his heart 'Swayam Maa Bhagvati ke diye hue potion ko svikar karein Bhumi Devi' (Please accept this nutrition from Maa Bhagvati herself, Bhumi Devi)

And with that he left the water to fall on the ground. As soon as the water fell on ground a wave of blue glimmer went in all directions. And then, the land began gaining a fertile form. 

The four of them were surprised when shrubs, herbs and trees began growing around them. Just few moments more and the land which was dry and barren few moments ago, turned into a beautiful forest which had trees of almost all kinds.

'Ye sb toh adbhut hai Dev!' (All this is so wonderful Dev!) Khyati exclaimed and Varun Dev grinned charmingly. 

'Dev.' Varun Dev turned on Umika's call and found her extending a locket towards him. Varun Dev recognized that locket very well. His Jyeshth Surya Dev had gifted this locket to their youngest brother Agni out of love and affection.

Memory of brothers, again brought tears in Varun Dev's eyes. And then suddenly he saw the taints on the gemstone of the locket. One was flame like and the was of whitish grey color. 

'Agni? Vayu?' he asked Umika and she nodded making Varun Dev smile a sad smile. He handed over the locket back to Umika and stood in front of all of them. 

'Som vriksh uss aur hain.' (Som vriksh are in that direction) he pointed towards the left. 'Aur phall aur jal uss aur.' (And water is in that direction) he pointed towards the back. 'Pushpvatika uss aur.' (Pushpvatika is in that direction) he pointed towards the left.
