52. What She's Supposed To Be

With eyes wide Umika stared at the monster that was not thinking twice before harming innocents and destroying the peaceful life they had created for themselves. 

Even with the distance of altitude between them, Umika could tell clearly that Karambh recognized her when his eyes went in their direction because the pause he took after that was followed by more blows and louder laughter. 

'Narayan.' Umika whispered and clutched Lord's arm for support and he held her arms firmly and looked down upon her with concern. All of them looked down upon her with concern. 

'Iss dusht ke toh mai praan har lunga, Prabhu!' (I'll end this dusht, Lord!) Mheem angrily summoned his mace and made his way down the mountain. Khyati, in concern looked at Umika who was shivering in Narayan's arms and then followed Mheem with her bow and quiver.

Mrityunjay, with composure tried to understand the situation. He knew that Karambhasur was Umika's fiance. What he didn't know was what was making Umika fear him so much? 

Since the day, Mrityunjay has rejected Umika's love, one of his reasons was that she was in engagement with some other man. But was she in an engagement with a man whom she fears? Was he going to return her to such a terrible man? The thought angered him.

'Gaura! he called her and took her face in his hands lovingly when she snapped at his voice. She was shivering under his touch.

'Kuch nhi hoga Gaura.......mai kisi ko bhi aapko kshati nhi pohonchane dunga.' (Nothing will happen Gaura.......I will not let anyone harm you) he cooed to her and then looked back at Narayan with concern. He left her face and summoned Chandrahas, he looked at Narayan once and left to fight.

To Umika's surprise, Narayan did not leave to fight when he could finish the fight in seconds.

'Aap....aap ye sb rokne kyu nhi jaa rhe hain, Prabhu?' (You....Why are you not stopping all this,Prabhu?) Umika asked him with confusion. 

'Mai nhi rok skta.' (I cannot stop all this.) Narayan replied simply in a cool tone and Umika's eyes widened in horror and concern. 'Aap nhi rokeinge toh kon rokega Prabhu?' (If you cannot stop this then who can, Lord?)  she asked him, all scared.

Narayan looked deep down in her eyes. Again she felt like he was looking at someone else, someone far past Umika. Narayan's lips parted to answer Umika's question-

-'MAAAAAAA!!!'

Both of them snapped towards the shout of a woman that came from down the valley where destruction was dancing in the whole valley. 

Beside Narayan, Umika almost whimpered. It felt like something clutched her heart in a tight hold and now she was not getting enough blood supply in her brain. 

Crying, Umika ran inside the cave, leaving Narayan shouting behind her back 'Bhay se bhagne se uska nivaran nhi hoga Umika!' (Running from your fear is not a solution Umika!) But she was too caught up in her own fear that she did not listen and collapsed down in the cave.

She was so scared. And she didn't know why? Was she scared of Karambh? Yes but not that much that she has to sit here and weep. She was scared of this situation.

Yes her fear did not make sense to her either. But she was being constantly nudged towards this conclusion that something will happen to her. Something so drastic that nothing will be same from then on.

She has accepted all the confusion in her life till now. But this.....she was not able to accept this feeling. 

Umika closed her eyes and looked deep down the darkness of her consciousness- a way her Guru taught her to calm herself down. But instead of calming down, Umika became more anxious.
