The Evening of Waghdan
The pitch black darkness of night was defeated by the thousands of 'Diyas' illuminated for decoration purpose. The palace was decorated just like the palace of a soon-to-be-wedded princess should.
Inside Umika's chamber, her mother, her sisters and her sister-in-laws were preparing her for the ceremony. She was clad in a beautiful golden-yellow attire with lots of jewellery.
The women of her family were laughing and enjoying the joyous moment and Umika was also accompanying them in their happiness.
Umika looked into the mirror and saw Khyati looking at her with an expression of mild panic and she swallowed hard. For that moment only, Umika's smile also faded. Umika blinked at her reassuringly and she nodded a little in agreement.
A few moments later, a Dasi came inside and said 'Samragi.........Shakdweep ke senanayak Mheem Rajkumari se milne ki aagya chahte hain.' (Samragi.........Senanayak Mheem of Shakdweep seeks permission to meet the Princess)
Sulochana smiled and said 'Aagya hai!' (He has my permission)
Soon the doors opened again and inn walked the brave and strong General of Shakdweep.
He smiled charmingly at everyone and then said while joining his hands in front of Sulochana 'Pranam Samragi.' (Greetings Samragi.)
Sulochana smiled and walked upto him. She placed a hand on his head and said 'Yashawi bhava, Putra!' (Eternal success to you, son!)
'Antatah Senanayak ko apni Mitr ke liye samay mil hi gaya!' (Finally, Senanayak got the time to meet his friend!) Umika mocked him and he smiled sheepishly, accepting his mistake already.
Mheem's eyes fell on Khyati who was standing there only and a peaceful smile came on his face. 'Khyati.' he said in a calm tone and Khyati acknowledged him with the same smile. They both stared at each other with a soft gaze.
'Aap dono ka ho gaya ho....... toh hum yaad dila dein ki waghdan HUMARA hai!' (If both of you are done.........then I would like to remind you that it's MY waghdan) Umika said while emphasizing on the word 'HUMARA'. Khyati blushed a little but Mheem took hold of himself.
'Hum aapke liye bohot saare uphaar laaye hain.' Mheem said and then one by one three big baskets of fruits, expensive and lavish looking clothes and a and trunk was dragged inside Umika's room by the servants.
Sulochana and other women were surprised to see the number and sizes of presents.
'Mheem......Putra.......Inn sab ki kya avashkta thi?' Sulochana asked.
Mheem smiled and replied 'Avashkta thi Samragi'
Sulochana shook her head with a smile and then started moving towards the room while saying 'Ab humara sabha mein jaane ka samay ho gaya..........hum aapke bhrata Veer ko bhejeinge aapko laane ke liye. Hmm?' (It's time for us to go..........I'll send Veer to bring you. Hmm?)
Umika nodded. Sulochana and other women went out of the chambers and Mheem followed them till the door with a smile on his way. When they all went away, Mheem's smile faded and he closed to door of the chamber hurriedly.
Umika got up from her seat with a jolt and walked upto the big baskets and trunk that Mheem had brought.
She scattered the contents of one basket and just at the bottom was a round bronze shield, covered the the contents of the basket initially. She did the same with other two baskets and they also had one-one bronze shlds.
