*a week later*

Jenna was surprised to find that, after a week of being with Matt, she was missing the little things that Richard did that Matt didn't do.

Richard remembered her birthday each year and brought her lilies and gardenias, her absolute favorite flowers. It was a reminder to say that he really did love her, and didn't forget her important events in life.

However, Matt had totally forgotten that her birthday was Monday this year- he only remembered when Jenna pointed it out to him, and all he gave her was a quick kiss before heading off for another Doctor Who panel.

Jenna was the type of girl who needed to have someone who really cared for her, did cute little things that made her feel loved, made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. But Matt wasn't that type of guy, and Jenna always felt disappointed. She knew in her heart that Matt was her one and only, but sometimes she felt like she shoulD just go back to Richard, to someone she knew intimately and trusted.

She and Richard still maintained contact, and were definitely still friends, but they kept it to a bare minimum since Matt kept giving Jenna the stink-eye whenever he saw her texting, phoning, or Skyping him. Jenna felt that Matt was beginning to be one of those over-protective boyfriends who never let their girlfriend out of their sight. She didn't want someone like that, but she decided to cut Matt some slack- this was, after all, his first relationship with a girl— or at least that was what he told her. She hopes it was true, because she knew she would never trust a guy who lied to her.

Lying boyfriends was one of her pet peeves, and she would not stand for it. If she found out Matt- or anyone for that matter- was lying to her, they would be first in line to get a good hard kick in the privates. Or in the case of girls, a nice strong, stinging bitch-slap on the cheek. (lol sorry for the profanity guys Keep reading)

Jenna NEVER lied. Ever since she was 8, she knew that lying could get you killed.

*flashback*

Jenna walked down the road with her best friend Ella when a really expensive looking car drove past them. It screeched to a stop, then made a U-turn and pulled up next to the young, innocent girls.

An older man rolled down his window. "Hey girls I got some candy in the trunk." he jerked his thumb towards the back of the car. "Want some?"

Jenna had learned about 'stranger danger' in summer camp, but Ella nodded to the man behind the wheel. "I'd love some candy!"

The man grinned, revealing yellowed teeth, full of cavities and other nasty stuff. "Well c'mon on in, girly! You, her friend, I've got enough for you, too."

Jenna backed away. "Don't Ella, he's just trying to kidnap us. I heard about men like this at camp."

Ella giggled. "don't spoil the fun, Jen! I want candy! I didn't have lunch anyway." She clambered into the backseat of the car and looked around. "I don't see no candy, Mister."

"I told you, Ella! He's lying, get out, now! He'll kill you! GET OUT!" Jenna screamed hysterically.

Ella began getting out, but before she could, the man reached his hand out the window and snapped the door shut. Jenna could see Ella's eyes widened in fear, and she pounded on the window. "LET HER OUT! LET HER OUT!"

But the car was already revving its engines, and it pulled away, taking Ella Johnson with it.

Jenna stumbled backward, her heart beating against her chest, thudding hard. She ran as fast as she could, ran home, faster than the wind. Because Ella was gone, and getting Ella back was all that mattered. Jenna thought of nothing except Ella as she ran, her mind thinking in rhythm with the beat of her footsteps against the ground. Ella Ella Ella Ella Ella...

They never heard from Ella Kathryn Johnson again.

Five weeks after Jenna had told the police what had happened, they found old, torn up clothes in a lake, and after further investigation found Ellas naked body lying a few hundred yards away from that lake.

*end flashback*

Jenna was forever traumatized by that event, and she swore to herself that lying was the number one sin, and if someone ever lied to her, they would be punished severely for calling up those memories from the corners of her mind where she had stashed those terrible memories that kept burning up, eating up every piece of her soul.

Ella Johnson was the reason she stopped lying.

Because lying could get you killed.
