Lily leaned into Richard's warm body. "Jenna's being released today," she said, interrupting the silence that surrounded the both of them.

He caressed her arm softly. "I know. I'm glad. Matt must be so relieved."

Lily nodded into his bare chest. Her fingers trailed up his torso, all the way to his cheek. She rubbed her thumb against his cheek gently. "Richard..."

"Mmm?"

"I know you're not so into Matt anymore, because, well... Y'know, 'cause I dated him, but I think it's time you started acknowledging that I love you, and that Matt will never leave Jenna for me again. He loves her too much."

Richard pulled away. "Lily!" he said, shocked at the accusation. "I don't hate Matt! I know he'd never leave Jen! Have you seen how he looks at her?!"

Lily sighed. "Look, I'm sorry. But... I just don't want you leaving me for Jen, okay?"

Richard pulled her into a tight embrace. "Lily James, I love you. I would never let you go."

She smiled into him. "I love you, too, Richard."

Matt slipped his arm around Jenna's waist carefully. "How are you doing?" he asked as he positioned himself on the sofa in a more comfortable way.

Jenna snuggled into his warmth. "Okay. I'll get better as I start getting used to being out of the hospital."

He nestled his large chin in her soft hair. "As long as you get better." He kissed the top of her head.

She pushed herself even closer to him. "I love you, Matt."

He took a deep breath. Was this the moment? He bloody well hoped it was, because the adrenaline was already pumping through his body as he sucked in another calming breath.

"Jenna..." He began.

She breathed into his chest. "Hmmm?"

"Jenna-Louise Coleman, I love you."

Her eyes traveled upwards and met his green ones.

"I've loved you since that first second I saw you. You've been my heart, my soul, my friend, and you've taken over me completely. I would go to the ends of the universe to save you. I love you, Jenna." He was close to tears now as he summoned the courage to say the special words. "Jenna-Louise... My Jen.... Will you do me the utmost honor of being my wife?" He got down on one knee and pulled out the box, snapping it open to reveal the diamond encrusted ring.

Her expression softened, and she placed her hand over her heart as she started to tear up. "Oh, Matt...."

He watched anxiously for an answer, his eyes moving over every inch of her beauty.

"Of course! YES YES YES YES!" She pulled him up and kissed him enthusiastically.

His hands joined aroumd her waist, and he lifted her up in his excitement.

This was his heaven.

He would always love her.

*many years later*

Jenna stood over Matt's grave, a wrinkled hand pressed against her mouth as she tried to keep the tears from flowing. He had been loyal to her, loyal until the end. She kept reminding herself that he was certainly old enough to have died when he did, but that didn't keep her from sobbing.

They had lived a long, perfect life together, as did Karen and Arthur and Lily and Richard. Jenna, Arthur, and Lily survived their spouses, each going to each other's funerals.

Jenna wanted Matt back. No one else made her laugh the way Matt did. No one made her swoon like him. No one made her fall more in love than Matthew Smith.

She knelt down and placed roses and lilies on the grave, his favorite flowers. "Matthew Smith...." she whispered to the headstone as she straightened.

She kissed her fingertips, then pressed them to Matt's inscribed name.

"I still love you."
