*one week later*
Rehearsal. Again.
Matt didn't want to face Jenna after he'd blown up in her face. He felt terrible... He was such an ass...
He thought that maybe if he hadn't been so interfering, he would've been able to stay friends with her. Maybe, if he hadn't looked through her phone, they would still be together. But then he thought that living with Jenna when she was cheating on him would be more painful than anything else. Even if he wouldn't know.
He walked into the studio with a swagger- he didn't want Jenna to think their fight had rendered him incapable of walking into a room with his head held high.
Jenna slid into her seat and twisted her rings around and around her finger, determined not to meet Matt's eyes as he say down in the seat next her. They both stared intently at the scripts sitting in front of them.
"Open to page one, please... Matt, start us off." Moffat gestured toward Matt.
Matt began to read. It was terrible. Jenna didn't mean any offense to Matt, but each word coming out of his mouth was so monotone, so incredibly... Boring... His talent had gone down the drain.
When Jenna joined Matt at the part she was supposed to, her reading was just as bad, if not worse. But she knew it.
The actors hired to play supporting characters looked on in astonishment. Jenna Coleman and Matt Smith were well known for their chemistry, but as they watched them read together, they saw no sign of how well they could work together. The two couldn't say one word with any emotion or inflection.
Moffat tried to give them encouraging compliments, but nothing he said helped them work together any better.
***
They reached the end of the reading- there were only three scenes left. Moffat read out the narrations, and as he described the death of Clara Oswald, Matt looked up at Jenna in pure surprise.
His eyes were bloodshot from all the crying he had done over the week about losing her. "Jenna?" he asked slowly, his eyes widening as he stared at her.
She glanced down and wouldn't meet his piercing green eyes.
Matt stared at her, his lower lips jutting out slightly. "Y-you're... Leaving???!"
Jenna nodded, her eyes glued to the floor as she determinedly trained her eyes anywhere but near Matt.
"But.... Jenna... Why?" his voice lowered and she could barely hear it.
Jenna blinked the tears from her eyes. "I... I needed... A break." She said as nonchalantly as possible.
"A break? From what?!" Matt exclaimed, his heart creaking as it strained at the strings binding it together, keeping it from falling apart. But his heart was bursting at the seams, nearly cracking it in two.
Jenna lowered her eyes. "From everything." she whispered softly, so softly Matt had to strain to hear her. A tear slipped from her chocolate colored eyes, and suddenly another sob burst out, and then she was sobbing her heart out on the table, her makeup smeared under her eyes, every tear leaving an ugly track on her cheeks as she hiccuped, sobs racking her body.
Matt instinctively slipped his arm around her, and she pulled away from him. "No no Matt, that's done with." She moved her chair from him, but he pursued her, needing to help her.
"Jenna.... Please....." He paused, cleared his throat. "I still love you."
Those words broke her, and she stood up and rushed out of the studio, crying like a baby.
***
Richard sat down next to Jenna on the couch, putting his warm, familiar arm around her shoulder. Jenna buried her face in his shoulder, wishing that she'd never broken up with Richard in the first place. Maybe Richard was the right one for her after all, even though she thought she loved Matt.
"I love you, Richard," she whispered in his ear.
He kissed her. "I love you, too."
Jenna felt so... Right. Being with Richard was the right thing for her. He was the one who made her feel special, loved, cared for...
About an hour later, they were both lying on the couch, Jenna's head on Richards chest.
Richard's hands slipped down, sliding around her waist as she moved closer to him. His hands moved to her stomach, then down to the top button on her high-waisted shorts, his finger slipping along the smooth metal. Jenna wasn't sure what was happening, but she didn't stop him— until he unbuttoned the top button on her shorts. Jenna moved a little, hinting that she wasn't quite ready, but Richard undid another button, then slipped the last button from its hole.
Jenna wasn't ready. For sure. She was 29, sure, but she didn't want to have sex quite yet. Maybe when they were married... But she knew Richard had surely already had sex, maybe getting drunk at college and getting down to it with some girl he barely knew.
Jenna was, however, an inexperienced virgin and had no intention of changing that status until she was married- whether it was to Matt or Richard.
Jenna drew the line at that moment.

I Still Love You (a Smoleman Fanfic)*completed*
RomansSmoleman is one of my OTPs, so I decided, why not write a little story about Matt and Jenna being perfection? So I did :) Enjoy!!!! *note: all character portrayals are simply figments of imagination. I doubt these amazing people really act the way I...
