Chapter 17

Jenna's heart fluttered as Matt's piercing gaze penetrated her deepest thoughts. Would she let him know that he was the one she truly loved? Or would she try to stay loyal to Richard?

Matt wanted her to say yes with all his heart. He could deal with Lily later. A quick break-up and it would be all over... Lily wasnt that smitten with him...

Jenna stared into Matt's eyes.

"Yes!" The word burst from within her, and she knew that this time, it was true love that made her say it. The word was her heart-truth, and she would always, always love Matt Smith.

"Yes yes yes yes yes!!" She giggled, on the verge of hysteria.

Matt's face lit up with the widest smile he'd ever worn. He picked her up and spun her in a circle around him. "My Jenna..." he whispered in her ear.

She laughed and hugged him even harder, trying to show how much she loved him in her tight embrace.

"Oi!"

They broke apart, spinning around to see the very Lily James that Matt had brought out.

A hurt look on her face made Jenna feel a little sorry for her.

Lily hiccuped, tears already building up in her perfect brown eyes. "Matt...?" she whispered, clearly surprised. She had obviously thought that Matt had really loved her.

Matt took a step toward her, hand extended, as if he wanted to make things right. "Lily... I can explain..."

She shook her head vigorously. "No you can't! I thought you loved me!" She stumbled back, almost tripping over her heels. "I thought you cared! I thought we really were something! But what am I to you? How could I mean something to you when I was competing with Jenna-Louise Coleman?" she spat, her eyes shooting daggers at the two.

Matt exchanged looks with Jenna. "Look, Lily.. I'm sorry. I can explain! I swear."

"No." She took more steps backward. "No... I'll just go tell Richard how Jenna's cheating with you, so he doesn't get too heartbroken..." She ran off, tripping and stumbling as she made her way to Richard's table, where he sat playing on his phone, waiting patiently for Jenna.

Jenna turned to Matt, her eyebrows raised. "I'm not sure that this place was the right place to... Get together..."

Matt nodded in agreement. "Mmhmm. I mean, we did take them out to dinner. Or consented to it, in your case." He tilted his head at her in acknowledgement.

Jenna sighed. "What are we gonna do?"

Matt took her smaller hands in his hands and met her gaze. "We tell them the truth. That we love each other, and that we're sorry for lying to them."

Jenna flinched at the word 'lie'. "You mean, for not telling the whole truth."

Matt nodded again. "Yeah. For not... Telling the whole truth," he mumbled in shame.

Jenna smiled delicately. "Ready to go and break the news?" She intertwined her fingers with Matt, who gave them a gentle squeeze before making their way down the long corridor to where the tables were.

They stopped at Richard's table where Lily was sitting across from him, her mouth open as she began to speak.

Jenna quickly slipped into the seat Lily was sitting in, pushing Lily onto the ground.

"Oh!" Lily gave an annoyed, offended noise as she collided with the floor. Matt gallantly offered his hand to her, but she refused it with an angry glare as she helped herself up from the ground.

Jenna took Richard's hands in hers. "Listen, Richard... I... Matt and I... we decided that we belong together. So I... we're... well, basically, we're done." Jenna paused. "Okay, sorry, it wasn't supposed to sound like that. But... Yeah, we're not... involved... anymore. Okay?"

Richard stared at her for a bit, then sighed. "Yeah... okay. I get it though. I'm not good enough for you. I never was-"

"Its not that, Richard! It's just... you're sweet and everything, but we just aren't right for each other."

Lily nodded in agreement. "Yeah..." She batted her eyelashes flirtatiously at Richard.

Richard gave a double-take at her words, but did not otherwise show that he had noticed the flirt coming out in Lily. "Yeah. I get it. And anyway..." here he looked lovingly at Lily, who he now knew well after working with her on Cinderella, "I think Lily and I might have some things to talk about." He stood up and gestured to the door, and Lily headed that way, Richard following behind and taking her hand in his.

Jenna looked at Matt, surprised. "Well, I guess we were within the right four people. We just got all mixed up."

Matt laughed and sat down at the table in Richard's place.

The waitress walked over with their food and did the smallest of double-takes at how Richard had been replaced by Matt.

Jenna muffled her giggles as the waitress tried to tear her eyes away from the large-chinned Matt.

As the waitress walked away, Matt shot Jenna a pretend angry look. "Oi! What the hell is wrong with my chin?" He stroked it, pretending to be offended. "It's definitely normal sized."

Jenna laughed at him, playfully poking his abnormally large chin. She snorted. "Totally, Matt. Kid yourself aaalll you want."

They burst into laughter as their food arrived. Well, Jenna's arrived.

The plain chicken breast landed in front of Matt, and he raised his practically non-existent eyebrows. "Um, miss?"

The waitress stepped back to their table. "Yes?" she asked as if Matt had no right to ask her for something.

"Um... this-- this isn't my order. I wanted the Masala."
(Btw this is an Indian restaurant readers!)

The waitress blinked, offended. "You specifically asked for this to be made, sir." Her voice had a hint of contempt.

Matt had surprise etched all across his face. "Um, no I didn't. I asked for the Masala."

Jenna covered her mouth, holding her chuckles in until the waitress had made her way back to the kitchen with much anger to ask for the Masala.

"Oh, Matt, you are so stupid!"

"What?"

"That was Richard's order, you total blundering idiot! He's super picky! That's why he asked for the plain chicken breast!"

Matt's eyes widened. "Oooohhh." He paused before laughing at his mistake. "I see! Wow, Richard is one little shit sometimes!" he said jokingly. He and Richard were friends, so calling him a shit wasn't too rude.

Jenna laughed and kissed Matt's forehead over their table. "My idiot," she mumbled, her hand against his cheek.
