Jenna groggily opened one eyelid. She heard low, angry voices from afar... She couldn't quite hear the words, she couldn't really see, but she knew that someone was angry.
She lifted her other eyelid and stared around a pristine, white room. Nurses in white uniforms were bustling around her bed, and one, a small nervous girl of about 28, noticed Jenna was awake.
"Miss!" she called to the last who seemed in charge of everything. "She's woken!"
The round lady walked up to Jenna's bed. "Ma'am, so glad to see you awake."
Jenna smiled through the pain in her face. "What happened? Last thing I remember I was driving away from- Matt's house..."
The lady gave her a kind, sympathetic smile. "You had someone backing out behind you, but they were on your blind spot... your car got totaled. You were thrown forward through the windshield... that's why we encourage wearing a seatbelt."
"I was putting it on..." Jenna mumbled.
"You've got two men dying to see you outside. Would you like to see them?"
Jenna nodded, letting out a small sigh as she relaxed back on her pillows.

Richard glared at Matt through red eyes. "What the fuck are you doing here? I'm her boyfriend, you shouldn't even be here!" he growled.
Matt stood his ground. "I was the one who witnessed the fucking accident you bitch. I think I have the right to be here when I saw Jenna..." his voice broke. "Jen... flying through the windshield... the glass shattering around her... Richard Madden, you have no idea just how terrible that sight was. Considering that I saw her almost die, I have more right to be here than you. I've come to talk to her, not have sex with her- and in any case, she's in no condition to have sex. And plus, I have a girlfriend."
Richard took a step backward, quailing under Matt's fierce face. "I... I'm sorry... didn't realize..."
Matt nodded sharply. "No, it's okay. Understandable. She's your girlfriend, you lost her to me for a bit, I get the hesitancy."
A nurse opened the door to Jenna's room. "You can see her. One at a time."
Matt gestured to Richard, indicating that he was to go first, and Richard gave him a quick thankful glance before stepping into the room- and gasping.
Jenna didn't look like... Jenna... anymore. She had cuts disfiguring her beautiful face, bruises all over her body...
"Jenna!" Richard rushed to her. "Oh, Jen... I'm so sorry..." he said tearfully.
She smiled sadly. "It's okay. I was crying and I didn't check in my blind spot..."
He took her hand in his, caressing it gently. "Oh, Jenna..." he whispered again.
She squeezed his hand softly, carefully avoiding the spot on her palm where she had been cut.
Richard lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it softly. "I love you."
Jenna blushed and smiled. "I love you too."
He planted a soft kiss on her cut and bruised lips. "I love you most."
Jenna smiled at him happily.

Richard walked out of the room and pointed into it. "She wants to see you, Matt," he said as the designated message deliverer.
As Matt made his way into the room, Richard grabbed his arm. "Don't freak out, but... she looks... different..."
Matt nodded and entered the room. He smiled at Jenna's mangled face. "Hey Jen," he whispered, his eyes roaming over her whole body, which was half covered by the white sheets, a white nightgown over her body, obviously provided by the hospital.
She grinned weakly. "I can tell that I look absolutely terrible. Richard and you both have that look on your face." She paused. "They haven't even let me see a mirror yet."
He laughed. "You're still really pretty, Jen."
She giggled. "I wish. My face... they said I may not be able to fix it unless they prescribe me with some experimental drug. I'd have to agree to the risks of the after effects." Her face got serious and somber.
Matt looked at her. "Are you going to?"
She nodded. "Only chance I've got, isn't it?"
"I guess."
A silence grew between them.
Jenna stared at him. "I'm sorry..."
Matt shook his head. "It's my fault. I made you cry, I made you go, if you weren't crying because of me, you wouldn't have..." he gestured to her. "That goddamned car..." he muttered.
Jenna laughed softly. "I told you, Matt. It's not. Your. Fault."
He looked down. "No, Jen. It is." He blinked back his tears.
She sat up and and took his hand that was lying on the edge of her bed. "Matt. Don't go blaming yourself for this. I was the stupid one, I was the one who got hurt when it was my fault in the first place."
Matt nodded, pretending that he believed her. "I just... feel so guilty..."
Jenna rubbed his hand. "Hey, don't, okay? Just be happy! You've got- what's her name- Lily?"
He nodded. "Yeah, she's the new companion for Who."
"I heard. I read on the news that she replaced me." A pause. "Is she... you know... any good?"
Matt shrugged. "She's definitely a great actress. Moffat absolutely loves her. He thinks she's nearly as good as you."
Jenna didn't respond for a while. "Is she... you know... a good girlfriend?" she asked casually.
"Yeah. She's really sweet, and she hasn't cheated on me yet..." Too late, he realized what he'd said, and tears had come to her eyes. "Oh, Jen, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to say that!"
She shook her head, fighting back the tears threatening to spill down her cut cheeks. "No, it's okay... can I please see Richard?"
Matt nodded, feeling guilty as he backed out of the room to go tell Richard to see Jenna again.
Richard gave him an inquisitive look.
Matt sighed. "She's crying again."
Richard nodded and went back into the room to comfort his Jenna.
