September 1984 was the beginning of the new school year. Everyone was already ready for the next year. They met new classmates, teachers, and the school environment. Nancy Wheeler was walking down the hall.
"So what? Did he call you?" Her best friend, Barbara Holland, asked.

"Keep your voice down," Nancy snapped at her.

"Did he?" Barbara said more quietly, still teasing Nancy.

"I told you it wasn't like that. Okay, I mean yes! He likes me, but not like that," Nancy said, rolling her eyes.
"We just made out a couple times," she said with a soft smile on her face as she walked to her locker.

"We just made out a couple times," Barbara repeated in a sarcastic voice to get Nancy to speak.
"Seriously Nance. You're going to be so cool now. Popular girl. It's ridiculous."

"I will not be a popular girl."

"I'm just saying, don't forget about me either.
Nancy gave her a slightly confused look.

"If you make friends with Tommy H. or Carol-"

"Ew, gross. I'm not going to be friends with them... Okay? I'll tell you, it was just one time."
Barb raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, two times maybe." Nancy turned to the cabinet she had just opened and noticed a small piece of paper rolled out of some trash. She opened it to see what was written on it.

"What is it?" Barbara asked.

"Meet me. Bathroom, Steve."

"And you were saying?" Barb asked as Nancy smiled and licked her lips.

"I'm going; see you in class; bye."

"Don't come back pregnant, Nancy Wheeler; I don't want to be an aunt."

"Shut up, Barbara." Nancy rolled her eyes as she ran into the boys' room, where her boyfriend Steve Harrington was already.

He threw himself on her, and they started kissing. Nancy loved it; of course, what girl wouldn't? Every girl at school wanted Steve. As Steve easily moved from Nancy's lips to her neck, Nancy whispered to him.

"Steve, I need to go now."

"Wait." Steve ignored her and continued kissing.

Nancy looked at the watch on her hand. She was an hour late.

"Steve, I really have to go," she told him, and she bent down to pick up her textbooks that were thrown on the floor.
Steve took her bag before she could take it.

"Wait, come on, let's do something tonight."

"No, I can't. I have to study for the Kaminsky test."
Steve folded his arms and rolled his eyes.

"Come on. What's your average? 1.00.1?"

"The Kaminski test is terribly difficult."

"I'll help you with that."
"You failed chemistry."
"3 minus"
"But.."
"I stopped by your house around eight."
"Are you crazy? Mom would-"

"I'll climb through your window. No one will know about me. I'm as quiet as a ninja."

"You are crazy." We smiled, walking towards the door.
Steve grabbed her hand and pulled her to him.

"Wait, wait, forget what I said now. We can just chill in my car. We'll find a nice place to park and"

"Steve, I have to study. Im not kidding."
