A/N: I really like this chapter. Enjoy this one because the next one will break you<3
We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and flashback starts. Our first and last summer.
It was July 1980. It was hot outside; all the children were riding bicycles or going to the cinema. For ice cream, to the park, or to the swimming pool.
Nancy Wheeler, a thirteen-year-old girl at the time, was trying to fit in with the town and find friends her own age. Her younger brother had no problem with that. He has known his group of friends since childhood. They probably held out well because they trusted each other and were themselves. Nancy had never felt this way with anyone. Of course, friends Natalie and Jasey are great. It's fun with them, but Nancy doesn't feel that this is true friendship."Mom, I'm going to town with Natalie today; is that okay?"
"Yeah, sure, honey, your brother is at the Byers' today, and Holly and I are going to the pool, so if dad isn't home, order a pizza, okay?" Mom said, and on a small scrap of paper, she wrote me the number of a pizzeria in town.
"Okay, mom, enjoy it."
I said that and poured myself a glass of orange juice. My father was at work, so I was home alone. I thought about whether I even wanted to go out with Natalie. But the thought that I would have to clean the house immediately took me out of it.
I put on white shorts and a striped shirt with pastel colors. In the bathroom, I combed my hair and tied it with a clip so that it wouldn't go in my face. I saw my mother's cosmetics on the shelf in front of the mirror. I borrowed her mascara and soft peach lipstick. I looked like that at least sixteen times.
I locked the house and walked towards Natalie.
Two large tow trucks were parked next to her house.
I knocked on Natalie's door."Hi Natalie, can we go?" I asked her.
"Sorry, I have to go with my mom to Aunt Lucy; I can't today," said Natalie. It seemed to me that she didn't even mean it.
"Oh, okay, at least you could have called me."
"I'm sorry, I forgot, but look, do you see the small house?"
Natalie pointed to a small but nice house on her left.
I nodded and looked at her again."They just moved here; they have a daughter our age. I think her name is Rebecca. I don't know; it doesn't matter. She's a bit weird, but I think she's just shy. If you want, you can make friends with her. My mom told me that I should be nice to her."
I watched as Natalia rolled her eyes and impatiently waited for me to leave.
"Okay, then enjoy it at your aunt's."
"Well, thank you."
I sighed. I didn't know what to do now; there was no one at home, and I really didn't feel like cleaning.
"Hey, are you Natalie's sister?" A distinct voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
I turned to see the person. It was a slightly taller girl with short hair and two different socks.
"No, I'm Nancy, her friend; I live nearby."
It was quite far, so I was a bit angry with Natalie because I had to shake myself here unnecessarily.
"I'm Robin," the blue-eyed girl said, shaking my hand.
She had a completely different style than me. While I had sandals and chains. Robin was wearing red sneakers, bracelets, and rings on both hands. I always wanted to be as cool as she was. However, in my family, there were also dress codes.
