I woke up because the sun was shining into the room through the window. My head still hurts a little, but it was better than yesterday. As I looked around the room and rubbed my eyes, I realized I had fallen asleep in Robin's bed. Well, I was here alone. I didn't remember anything from yesterday.

"Hey Nance," Robin said, standing in the doorway.

"How did I get here?"

"I brought you the night with Barbara.

"You can drive?"

"A little bit"

"And where is Barb now?"

"She went home early, I think at nine o'clock."

"Oh. I should probably go too."

"Okay, call me if you need anything."

Robin wanted to ask her if they could go somewhere and talk. However, she did not have the courage to do so.

"Yeah, I will. Bye for now."

Nancy said that and left the house.
It wasn't until she was halfway there that she realized she was still wearing Robin's clothes.

She didn't want to go back. At least I have a good excuse to see her again.

After arriving home, however, she was in for an unpleasant surprise. Her mother and father were waiting for her in the living room.

"Hi mom, is something wrong?"

"Why did you lie to your mother, Nancy?" Her father got up from his chair.

"What are you talking about?"

"Stop pretending you don't know anything. Barbara's mom said that her daughter didn't come home at night; she thought you were sleeping at our house, but to my surprise, you said you'd be at their house. We're waiting for an explanation."

Fuck Barbara.

"Nancy, where have you been all night?"

Karen approached her daughter.
Nancy knew it would be better to lie again.

"I was with Steve..."

Karen didn't believe her daughter. She frowned a bit before Ted spoke.

"See, Karen, you're making unnecessary drama. The girl was just enjoying her life." Ted said, patting Nancy on the shoulder.

His touch disgusted her.

"Can I go now?"

"Sure, go, and next time don't forget to invite that Steve to dinner. I'd really like to meet him."

Nancy bit her lip and ran up the stairs to her room.
Karen followed her anyway.
She grabbed her hand and snapped.

"Nancy, maybe I'm just being overly dramatic, but I'm not stupid like your father."

That was true.

"What are you saying, mom?"

"I never bought you the clothes you're wearing. And Steve couldn't have given it to you because it's smaller and the Harringtons don't have a daughter your age."

Nancy couldn't think of another lie.

"Fine. I was with... Robin."

"That Robin? Really? Are she's doing okay?"

Nancy wasn't expecting this question. She thought that her mother would kill her on the spot, but she gave up and was quite comfortable with it.

"Uh, yes, I guess she's fine? We just slept there with Barabara, nothing more."
