𝐈 𝐒𝐇𝐔𝐅𝐅𝐋𝐄 around my bedroom, since that's where all my things are. i take out a lip gloss that i stole from a store a few months back.
i apply it onto my lips, already glowing like the sun during a sunset. i look through my drawer for some mascara, i find some cheap mascara from a gas station and hurry and put it onto my eyelashes.
i already see myself differently, i look rather beautiful, but not quite socy beautiful.
i dig some more to look for some blush to put on my face. once i find it, i take a brush and spread it in my cheeks.
i don't look like myself, i look gorgeous, and i love it. collecting myself, i stand from my chair and walk to my closet, where my clothes would be.
the only thing that catches my eye is the dress mom used to wear when she wanted to impress guys when she was my age, as she would tell me.
sure, it was a short dress and all, but this is sodapop curtis we're talking about. i throw it on, hoping it'd be enough for soda to look at me, even if it's for one second.
i straighten my hair, my hair's really long and naturally curly, so i decided to change that today, i've never straightened my hair before, so i barely recognized myself in the mirror.
i shut my eyes tightly, i just hoped i wouldn't embarrass myself in front of everyone.
"come on, susan! i'm gonna be late!" steve knocked on my door furiously.
"i'm coming!" i call back, grabbing a scrunchie to put on my wrist.
i open the door, hoping steve wouldn't notice anything different about me. or that he didn't say anything.
he was waiting in the car, he glanced at me then looked away. i hopped into the passenger seat and rested my head on the seat.
"you look...different." steve mumbled, starting a conversation after an awkward moment.
"i know." i sigh shakily.
"you wanna talk to me about something?" he questions, like he knew something was up.
"nope." i looked out the window, staring at the trees which past by us as we drove down the street.
i unbuckled my seat belt and trudged over to the front door. i expected the worst.
once i turned the knob, all the attention was on me, dally looked me up and down then smirked. making chills run down my spine.
maybe this wasn't such a good idea.soda had just walked out of the bathroom, his dx shirt was unbuttoned and he was shirtless underneath it.
he looked at me then smiled. "you look nice." he played with my hair, messing it up. i sighed sadly, all this just for a 'you look nice'?
"ready to go, buddy?" soda asked steve who just walked in the door. i sat down sadly, johnny walking over to me and hugging me.
"i think you look beautiful." he rests his head on my shoulder, making me crack a grin.
"thank you, johnny." i sit back, he was still resting his head on my shoulder, he smelled of cigarettes and dirt. but he made it work.
we sat like that as the gang talked and talked for a long time, until dally left for another party.
"you look different today, susan." two-bit cocked an eyebrow. "why's that?"
i sighed and shook my head. "just wanted a change." i shrugged, two-bit squinted his eyes, as if he didn't believe me.
"whatever you say little lady." he turned his attention onto the tv, which was now playing mickey mouse, so two-bit wouldn't ask anymore questions.
suddenly, an idea popped into my head. i guess if soda doesn't like me like this, maybe he'd like me to give him something?
i didn't wanna waste time so i quickly ran out of the house and down to my driveway, stopping for a breath.
i walked to the door and turned the knob. my dad was laying on the couch with bottles surrounding him per usual.
but that's not what i cared about right now, my
main focus was to get soda to finally realize how amazing i can be.i grabbed ingredients for the cake and headed into the kitchen. i was gonna make the best cake i've ever made.
i would stop by the store later on as well, for some flowers i'd give him.
after all of that, i started down the street. when i walked into a farmers market, there were foods drinks everything, you name it.
i started down the section where they kept their nicest flowers. i picked violets and lilys since those might be the prettiest flowers i had ever seen.
it was five dollars, i checked to see all my money i brought with me. seven dollars. that'd be enough to buy him flowers, even if that's all the money i have left.
buying the flowers, i left.
